  • Not worth the high $$

I have the Korg iMS-20 and this and the Korg blows this one completely out of the water as far as sound quality goes. The presets on this synth are horrible. The biggest problem is this synth has absolutely no punch or life or anything exciting soundwise. It's just dead sounding. I regret making the purchase.
  • Amazing Synth

I can't believe what this thing can do, like a $2,000 synth in your iPad.
  • Synth Enthusiasts Beware...

This may just be my individual response to this - but nonetheless i feel that the community should be made aware of my verdict.

Right off the top I'll let you know that i own a Roland JP8000, a Korg Electribe, and a Roland JV1080. Additionally i have the Sylenth1 plugin for logic. If you are someone who expects similar quality of sound in this application, let me tell you that you won't find it. I found the sounds to be rather "2 Dimensional" so to speak. They lacked the appropriate requirements i had in mind for any synthesizer Software or Hardware. Sure the interface was not too bad looking, but i felt that what i heard did not compare to anything i already own. I would like to see the day where the ipad can store things such as a Sylenth1 Application or other assorted soft synths in existance. Not mere toys claiming to be in the same league. As far as synth apps go, i will say that this is most likely one of the best you will find - but it is not enough for people like me. Please take this into consideration - and remember, you may not feel the same as i do. Please respect my opinion as I respect yours.

P.S. Sound aside - i found the knobs very difficult to operate with any sort of accuracy in mind. It may take getting used to in order to properly adjust parameters.
  • Excellent Synth

Great sounding and intuitive synth! And I've been able to drive it externally from a keyboard and a Roland guitar synth. I have many synths, but this makes sounds I cannot get any other way. In an extremely portable fashion.

Great synth. Best I've used so far on iPad.
  • The Best Synth!

Just what I was waiting for, and now with the ability to hook up my MIDI controller almost perfect. Five stars for its present state, will be worth six if a couple things can be done:

1: visual feedback of MIDI activity as flashing LED and moving controllers and keys (think Reason).

2: if Apple have allowed this, would be great to continue playing in the background while a score sheet app is in the foreground.
  • Best Ipad Synth

(update) Wow, thanks for the MIDI with camera connection kit. Finally, one of the synths did it right! Nlog works great with my m-audio keyboards. Nlog proves, yet again, it is king of the synth mountain.

(old) If you are a synth lover, stop hording your store credits and buy this app! Don't buy an app to track the planets or map your peak fertility. The planets steer themselves, and there is time enough for kids later. Buy this app!

    Wish list (very short)
    Overdub recording, that's it.
  • Very impressed so far! Just fix the orientation bug please.

The synth sounds amazing! I had used the I had used the iPhone version a lot before, but I definitely love having the extra space on the iPad. The only bad thing is the rotation bug. I like to use the synth while at an angle, and it just flips upside down every time. Hope that gets fixed soon.

Only request I have: I would love to be able to import audio (like a drum part of a song, or a whole backing track) so I could play along with it, while still being able to record in the Tape section and then export that (the synth recording) back to the multitrack.
  • Great value

Powerful synth app for $15. I remember the days of the original moog, arp and other synths with very limited capability for thousands of dollars. This a great sounding polyphonic synth with arpegiator, effects and digital recall. I also like the recording capability. Very useful for some production work. The MIDI Mobilizer works well. If u r having difficulty with it update the firmware in the MIDI Mobilizer. Would like to see more "musical" sounds added for download. The included sounds are very synthy. Would also like to see split keyboard mode (zoning) added to have different sounds play on different areas of the attached MIDI keyboard. Screen "flips" occasionally for no known reason. Overall a great synth and well worth the money. Looking forward to feature updates.
  • Nice sound...MIDI Mobilizer is a no go

I'm giving it 3 stars for being an amazing sounding synth...I'll change it to 5 when it works properly with the line 6 MIDI Mobilizer. When playing it with a keyboard controller via MIDI, the notes hang every time. I bought this updated "Pro" version specifically for the MIDI mobilizer support, so needless to say, I'm anxious for it to actually work.
