Content great, format ok
A well-written source for actual NZ news that’s not full of rubbish articles and mangled English. One improvement I’d love to see is an iPad-optimized version. My other very minor gripe is that when returning from an article to the main page, there’s an annoying pause and flicker as the page refreshes. It doesn’t happen in the ‘Top News’ section but does in other sections.

Needs notification settings for types of news
News notifications are helpful but too many can be really annoying and distracting. Other news apps let you toggle which types of news are worth receiving notifications for. Like sports, regional, politics, arts, etc. I’m not a sports person and in April 2018 all these commonwealth games notifications are really working my nerves. Five stars when this improvement is rolled out!

Much harder to use
Sorry Radio NZ but these upgrades do you no good. I have listened online for around five years. Now trying to listen in Europe about four months back your upgrade was terrible with a huge amount of trouble just trying to get to listen live. Now wanting to listen live and being told to upgrade but unable to when directed to the upgrade site. Bad news. Please try and get it right for your overseas listeners

Or you could try deleting the app and redownloading it. If that doesn't work, please email appproject@radionz.co.nz and we'll try to track down a solution.
Pretty good
RNZ is an excellent source of NZ and Pacific news, and it’s great to have it all present in one app.
Just a few frustrations: The ‘RNZ Player’ screen conceals the iOS status bar, so when the audio stream cuts out it’s not obvious if it was a signal strength issue or something else. It also hides the clock in the status bar. There are no space constraints so I just don’t understand this user-hostile design decision. Also, the app is not optimised for iPad; and the play/stop button icons are so small that from across the room you can’t tell the player status (again, frustrating for troubleshooting when the stream cuts out).

Super frustrating - recent updates are causing the app to crash at random
Brilliant
What a fantastic app!
As always, RNZ content is terrific but this new app makes that wonderful content so easily accessible. Favourite feature is the ability to review the individual segments from a programme and then create a playlist - very very easy and superbly useful way to arrange then listen to all that excellent RNZ content. Brilliant! Highly recommended.

Disappointing
This new version is a downgrade compared with the previous one. The greater use of graphics means that more scrolling and tapping is required to find details of and/or download an item. The playlist interface is not very clean with a confusing array of up, down and side arrows to get around it. Worst of all it is sometimes impossible to listen offline to downloaded material as the app displays an error message. I wish the previous version were still available.

Not much good
In the BOP - so RNZ FM reception is weak. I was looking for a digital stream and found this App.
The user interface is uninspired - and poor on the iphone - with only a handful of streams you would have thought they would use decent sized text and buttons
The rear issue that makes this app poor though is that it caches the news - so it gets stuck on a stale version. Who wants to listen to news that us a week old, over and over
You can uninstall and reinstall every hour - but you have to ask yourself if its worth that much effort.

Yikes
Latest update completely doesn't work for me- just a black white screen with the menu down the bottom which just hangs and crashes! Heeeelp. I miss my NatRad.
Radio NZ app not what it used to be
