great app

Have used this app to open email attachments from Windows users and have had no problems with it. Just click on the icon at the bottom of the email and the app does the rest. So easy to use. Very pleased with it.

Pay the $20 and Get Over It

At least it works. And at least they tell you upfront that they charge for the app. Don’t bother with the mini versions, just pay the $20 and be done with it so that you can acturally view and save those annoying PC mail attachment things.

Hey Don, thanks for the review! The" mini versions" – or in-app purchases – you are talking about are fully capable of opening up winmail.dat files too! The 19.99 version of Letter Opener is an add-on for Apples "Mail" and opens winmail.dat files directly within "Mail", so there's a difference in functionality. I’ve been using it for a while… works great!

I’ve been using the app for a while now, about a year or so, and it does what it advertises: all those .dat files are no longer a problem.

works great

this application works great. i often get attachments from PC users in that dat format I can’t open/read on my mac - this solves that problem like a charm. it was easy and fast to install. also you aren’t taken to another screen to open attachments; it’s seamless—you just click on it and it opens.

You hardly notice it’s there

Many apps to choose from. Chose this one beacuse of positive recent reviews. You just double click the Winmail thing at the bottom of the email and the email plus attachment opens. You hardly know it’s there. Plus there’s a real human being at support ready to raise any issues with. Worth paying for.

I bought this app last year and have been using it without a problem until last week when I started getting a dialogue box telling me my trial period had ended and I had to buy the app. I already bought the app. Can someone rest this for me? (P.S. I only rated this 1 star because I figured no one at the HQ reads the good reveiws. I have had no problems with this app until now. I just dont know how else to ask for help)

Very New User

Your’re not starting off well! I’ve just finished using this app. for the first and only time and your’re already demanding a review before your let me shut down my own computer. Get a life! Don’t try and hold me hostage for using something I’ve already paid for. It makes me want to demand my money back and look for a reasonable substitute. Like buying a new car and after you’ve driven it for 5 miles it locks up and demands a completed marketing survey before it can be restarted.

Sorry for your troubles! We are asking for a review of our product once a year after you bought an in-app purchase. It is, however completely optional. If you were not able to close the window, something else must have been going on. Thanks for the heads-up – we will look into this!

Great App but have turned it into a spammer

For some reason, the developers think it is good marketing to put up a screen asking you to rate the app which cannot be removed unless you close the whole app or carry out a review. When you pay for an app, you do not expect that behaviour. My advice is to avoid it until they have sorted this out. The app is great, shame they have employed someone who thinks it is clever to waste your time.

Huge Help!

This application has been such a huge help for me. I have certain business contacts whose email always corupts their attachments. This application works perfectly every time, and has saved me a lot of back and forth with these contacts.
