This platform is a joke, communication nightmare for users and restaurants

This happened to me a few of times I've tried this app recently. When I place an order, the order doesn't get confirmed for 30-45 minutes. The app just says "order pending" and under details it just says payment not complete. I've tried it with a debit card and also a mobile wallet.

To find out if the order has been placed or not, I tried chatting with their customer service - their service is a joke. The chat window says "chat will start in 1 minute" and you wait for eternity with no response.

Tired of waiting for confirmation, I had to resort to other service and 2 hours later Zomato delivery guy arrives with food and no notice. The app still says "order pending" at that time. The delivery guy was equally frustrated with their app and they claim this happens all the time.

I've been trying other apps like Swiggy and they get their job right - timely order confirmation, keeping you always informed and comms between restaurants, users and riders. That's just basic functionality one expects. Zomato is horrible - their functionality and customer service. I will never use it again and would strongly advice friends and family not to.

Search function needs improvement!

Even though UX has improved a little, there’re lots more to do! I search by restaurants a lot and it took me awhile to find the search button down below when upfront was search by location. Doesn’t make sense! Searching by location is also fine if your app ACTUALLY suggests restaurants in that location! Why does it always show other locations other than the one you’re in or search for?! Freaking annoying when I am on the go all the time and want to do a quick search. There’s also no function to turn off other neighbourhoods! Argh!! Also, why is default sort ‘popularity’? What’s the difference between ratings and popularity? What is it measured by? Ratings are what people go for, wouldn’t you default it to ratings?!

Hi, kindly drop a mail to our Neutrality team (neutrality@zomato.com) regarding this with all the available details. Somebody from the team will reach out to you at the earliest. Thanks.

Bad customer service, good product

Good reviews and information on local restaurants. But when it comes to delivery I had an issue with an incomplete order and the customer service advisor was arguing with me trying to tell me that I received my order and that I’m wrong because apparently it was packed properly. Even though I was sitting there with less food. I got no help and no refunded money. Very disappointing.

Hi, apologies for the inconvenience caused. Kindly share your order ID (the 10-digit number) with us so that we can look into what went wrong and do the needful. Thanks.

The new update wasn’t necessary

I’ve been using Zomato for a really long time now and I’ve always liked how it’s mobile user friendly. However, the new update and new layout is just ain’t it. It’s so compact that the app is crashing and not doing its job like how it used to. It’s really slow and laggy that it’s becoming annoying to use. Like I know Auckland wifi is trash, but it’s not that trash to the point your app will tell me to “Try Again” even with full wifi signal. I wish you didn’t smack it with all the fancy jazzy compact layout. You should’ve just sat there and ate your food :(

The new update is very bad

What have you done? What is this stupid update? The new design of the app is very bad and very inconvenient, most of my search results don’t show, I have to write the name of the restaurant in google and then open its zomato page from there, why can’t I view the photos of the restaurant unless it is open? Are you serious?
The app was amazing and convenient and very user friendly, I still don’t understand what was the meaning of this update.
I am didn’t use the app since the new update and I am using roundmenu app instead but thought I would tell you why for your future benefits.

I had enough!

I have used this app for a bit more than a year. I had a couple of issues but overall everything worked in the end simply because most of the times I contacted the restaurants directly. Today I got charged for extra avocado but it was not added to my tartine. I decided to use their chat support. I immediately got notified i got 0.67usd in Zomato credits. But when I asked if this is equivalent to the 2,000LP I got charged they replied that it is not and I got a “this is the best we can end from our end =)”. After I told them this was not ok, as clearly I can live without 2,000LP, but i am making a point not to be charged for what I didn’t receive and that they should return the exact amount that they charged for! I was informed that I was given 9usd in Zomato credits! I really don’t understand the logic and I am not happy with this money joking around. Since then, Khalas, I’m done using them

not convinced urbanspooner

Where are the dates on the feed? I can remember the rough date i went somewhere but not how many days ago. and when I rate somewhere and review I should be able to put the date or at least month I was there
what is with the pricing system? $x for 2 ppl?! what's wrong with price per main then you just multiply by how many people you are going out with?
where is the link to actual restaurant website?
what is with the restaurant adding form? I am an 'urbanspoon prime' so was able to add and rate restaurants straight away. UPDATE - now can't even find how to add a restaurant
UPDATE - even when you add a restaurant it sits in PENDING MODERATION for sometimes YEARS!!!
why do none of the restaurants I have been to have a rating? I don't mind the /5 system but I have been to and rated hundreds of them on urbanspoon, what happens with these? where is my favorites list?! from what I can tell it's now mixed in with my wishlist and called bookmarks. this needs to be separated. also, where's the map for the bookmarks? if I'm going to a suburb I want to be able see places I wanted to go in that area easily. UPDATE - filter has been added but it doesn't actually work! obviously a bug! AND MONTHS LATER IS STILL NOT WORKING!
I'm sure I will come across more - there's still a way to go guys!

and years later still wanting to tear eyes out :/

My foodie Adventure

Great way to see and review places. Also share your thoughts on a place you’ve just visited too. I absolutely love good food, coffee, smoothies etc therefore it’s a pleasure to experience and explore many more places that will add to my foodie adventures with my family and friends😊

My mouth is still watering!

We had a basketball tournament to attend so I googled restaurants in the area. Jing Jing was a little hard to locate initially (Google maps) but well worth the persistence!
This place is located on the outside of a local shopping mall... but don’t let that put you off!
Once inside, the decor has a funky and cosy vibe (more like Fitzroy or St Kilda) and the staff are really attentive!
But the best thing about Jing Jing is.... THE FOOD!!! OMG this is the best Thai food I’ve ever had in Melbourne!!
Not your standard Thai fare, although you’re sure to find some of your usual favourites.
The vegetarian Thai red curry with chickpeas was to die for. (We loved the Kent pumpkin with the skin still on.)
Best of all was the choice of rice available- Jasmine rice, coconut rice, brown rice and super rice with quinoa!

We left satisfied and feeling good... ready to hear back to the stadium for the next two games, full of energy!!
Will definitely be back.

Tip: book ahead! This place is popular and for good reason

Sigh...another one bites the dust

Old review, update below: While I do miss some urbanspoon features, such as being able to see nearby locations on a map and the shuffle feature, I do like the more granular five star rating system over the simple up or down vote. I am annoyed many of my votes have disappeared, however.

Update: another app bites the dust due to oversimplification. It’s been stripped of everything that made it good. The new version has limited and/or useless options (no filter for take out?) and they’ve removed any ability to edit/update listings. You can’t even add a restaurant from the app anymore, you have to get on a computer. This is what made urban spoon great: all users keeping the info fresh. Guess it’s back to sifting through inane reviews on yelp.
