  • Wasted Time

Created a piece, recording it, connected the ipad to itunes to get the file and it wasn’t there. When are these guys going to give the option to save to icloud files instead of dinosaur iTunes?
  • Easy to take for granted…

Since Sunrizer has been around for such a long time, it’s easy to overlook just how nice it sounds. Flexible, powerful, with a host of free presets, it truly remains one of the best synths available on iOS.
  • Really great synth, homage to JP8000

I am a former JP8000 owner, and while Sunrizer is not 100% the same, it is close and more importantly very good. I don't like most of the presets, but it has a great feature: specific templates for classic sounds. You have to be careful not to overload the output, just turn the overall mix slider down if that happens. The filter isn'nt the greatest at extreme values, but this is similar to the original JP8000, so as imperfect as that is, it gives it its character!

  • Incredible!

I put this right up there with Spire, Serum, Massive X.
  • Can be calibrated

First off, great sounding instrument. No problems at all. The icing on the cake? The tuning can be calibrated so your not forced to use 440. I write music @ A = 432 because it sounds better to me.

Warmer, and less harsh than 440. It has become difficult to find synths that will allow calibration. They seem to do everything except that. So thank you thank you thank you! 😁

Tip: If you would like to play with 432 tuning simply turn the fine tuning knob to -32.

    Now AUv3!!!

[Review updated 1 Sept 2021] Now Universal!!!

First synth I bought for iOS (XS) in 2013 for my iPhone 4. The default preset was so powerful, it left my eyes and mouth wide open! It still has that ability today. Standing the test of time, in this case, means the sound (which includes the presets) can still be used for the latest genres of music. It's always sounds fresh, strong, fat and lush! Great fx section, I'm looking at you reverb-bb.. Excellent synth/app, also very responsive developer (bonus) and it is future proof. It may or may not become an Audio Unit [AUv3]?? but it's still-brill standalone. It has alway been on my front page, hope it stays there (AU) will keep it there). I also find that I use it as one of my main/quick tester for midi/audio related stuff... it just works. Sunrizer is a Classic! Love it! King ————— Edit/added: today this synth just solidified, it confirmed its place! It is now AUv3.. What more could it need, I think that’s good enough for future proofing right there. I give Sunrizer 5 stars all over again. ***** Bless, King

  • Among the best

Sounds great - nice to see the recent update. 5 star app all the way!
  • The best just got better

Other gimmick synths come and go, but Sunrizer - simple to understand and tweak, sounds absolutely fricking awesome in any genre - still rules, after all these years. All hail the once and future King.

    That is all. :)
  • Was great; please fix tuning!

I have nothing to add to the rave reviews on Sunrizer: its still sets the standard for iOS synths after more than a decade, it still is rock-solid in performance and in sound, and I still use it whenever I can.

Which isn’t as often as I’d like, because the custom tuning has been broken since my last iOS 9 device bit the dust. On iOS 12 and 13, selecting anything other than standard (i.g., 12-tone equal temperament) tuning transposes the entire synth range up by two octaves, and the MIDI transpose function does not work to bring it back down. Thus, no bass for you!

That wouldn’t be a complete loss if it weren’t also now impossible to set the root note for non-equal temperament tuning systems. Choosing a root note just assigns C to the corresponding key on the keyboard. So, if I set Eb as my root note for a justly-intoned scale, then touch the Eb key, I hear a note that sounds like C from 12-TET 440. Two octaves higher than it should be.

I emailed the dev about this some time ago. I know life is weird for us all as the pandemic drags on, but Beepstreet updates have appeared without this issue being addressed. And yeah, I’m a niche market in a niche market, but I miss Sunrizer’s reliability and incredibly awesome sounds in my music. I can sample it, I suppose, but it’s just not the same.

I’m still looking for the synth to replace it for iOS work. SynthMaster One is the best sounding so far, but its interface trips over its own cleverness. Why so few synths on this platform bother with custom tuning is another question entirely, but I sure do wish that Sunrizer could return to its place at the head of my signal chain.

  • I’m still Utterly Speachless after 6 years.

Back with an updated review after 6 years of using Sunrizer, it still is one of the best sounding synth apps on the App Store, I have used its many sharp crystal clear digital/analog sounds in so many music projects.
Things have moved on Tech wise over the years since first buying Sunrizer - more powerful and faster iPads, I now only use and rely on one DAW (Cubasis3) on iPad8, and sunrizer still reigns supreme in my synth app collection, it is not too complicated to create brilliant sounding presets, it does suffer now and then in Cubasis3 by going mute for no reason (that I know of). Looking forward to many more years of creativity with Sunrizer⭐️

I have many synths and studio's on my iPad but they now must take second place behind Sunrizer. It is so inspiring with so many awesome sound textures and leads, especially when connected to my full size keyboard via iRig Midi. This is definitely going to be my main synth app. 5 stars is not enough for this great app.
