More than just a magazine
I am writing to tell you that the Guitarist Deluxe edition designed for iPad is wonderfully inspiring! It is like being back in school and wanting to know everything all over again! I never thought reading could be both informative AND fun! I even love the commercials with all of the videos and sound bites! When I used to read the regular issues bought at the bookstore, I would see all of the devices, amps and guitar gear within the pages of Guitarist I have wondered what must that sound like? Well, right here with a touch of my finger I can not only see it in action but get an idea of what it sounds like as well. I absolutely love it and look forward to a future of touching everything I am curious about and having my desire satisfied immediately! Great job!Show lessFan Uno
What I bought my iPad for!!
This mag was one of the reasons why I bought an iPad. I'm glad to say that's actually better than I expected - amazing interactive content, beautiful layout and presentation. It's so much better than the print version - I can't recommend it highly enough!!Guitar Rod

I really wanted to like this...
…but why would you subscribe to a digital version of a magazine where the print version is out weeks before the digital copy. I received the May Guitarist over a week ago (the one with Rory Gallagher's gear on the front) and yet it's still not out on this platform. What's going on with you guys???
Don't they use computers to set magazines nowadays? Don't they have the ability to export their content directly to pdf (or most other formats)? It's not because of the 'premium' content because the videos and audio stuff is already out in the online 'vault'. Surely the advantage of going digital is no distribution network required…so why does it take this long to get this version out?Show lessSonicStrat
Content is fantastic, shame about the flaws!
Forget the negative reviews about the content, it's fantastic! It just needs to be prompt to arrive on my newsstand every month. At the end of the day, that's the whole point of subscribing, no?
It really is a massive shame that the digital version of this great magazine is always so much later to arrive then printed copy.
I can go to the shop and buy the new issue today and have been able to for a few days and yet there is still no sign of the digital copy on my iPad?!
This needs to be sorted and a system put I place that gives them the same release date!
I've read a lot of bad reviews and they're all about the same thing. Even if there was a date to look forward too on the app store, but no, we just have to keep checking every day!

Needs some consistency
Same as the previous review, I just think this is trying to hard to do "iPad stuff". Just because you can rotate the screen doesn't mean you have to, and if you must, at the very least make the results the same each time. I found myself continually rotating my iPad and clicking on buttons, not because it was fun but because I constantly had this feeling that I would miss content if I didn't hunt for it. The proper deluxe content, like videos and audio, is much appreciated, but the gimmicky interface I'm sure will just put people off. Redesign the interface (pick your 2-3 best mechanics and use them for everything) and you'll have a winner on your hands. Currently it feels like every interface idea made it in, and its just too much.Show lessKangarootoo

this is a fantastic example of the direction magazines should go. from the come to life cover of bb speaking about playing and his life to johnny marr playing a few bars on his new jaguar model. the lessons with played examples are much more convenient to use than the cds were. i am hoping they add more content as time goes on. i could write more but spend the $6 to see for yourself if you are a guitar lover. johnny's interview and video discussion concerning his new fender makes you want to get a hold of the jag and play it for yourself. so often i see a sig model and wonder what exactly did this person do to design the axe. for this one you know and it definitely elevates your appreciation of the model. it is something that would not have come across in printed mag.
yes, the mag is expensive and if you do subscribe to the print, all digital should be included parituclarly since the print version is EXPENSIVE - it was more justified when they were shipping with a cd. this is no longer the case. they have to sort this rationally and soon.
for now though i am pleased to have this mag, a vision of the future of publishing. big kudos to the team who developed this. to all readers of this, please support the effort!Show lesskirks1
A Great Multi Media Experience
I liked Guitarist in print and love the iPad app. The interviews, gear reviews and lessons are all well done in multimedia. A well integrated iPad magazine!Kitman1
Not impressed
I have subscribed for the year, wish I hadn't. I thought it would be good to have the media imbedded in a digital version of the magazine but all the tapping and swiping does not make it an easy experience. Although the FAQ says the digital version may appear after the printed version, it's still frustrating to wait, after all that is why people subscribe isn't it? I've tried to turn off the auto-renew for subscriptions but can't find out how. Customer contact service is non-existent. A poor experience so far and I've paid good money for this.
