I just need to know
Why does this app have an update every single day? I open the app and it says something about updating or dismissing. I update every single time too sooooo how many more updates could there possibly be? Will there always be a new update? Are there honestly that many bug fixes? I’m all for improving an app but there’s no way you guys roll out something new every single day. Are you actually doing anything or just testing to see how many people choose to update? I’m just so confused. If there is any other update the rest of this week I would not be shocked. I’d probably check the news to make sure Twitch is ok. I’m almost tempted to apply for a job with twitch bc if there seriously an update every day then that must mean that’s confirmation of job security. I just imagine meetings with teams scrambling to come up a new update that you guys are running out of ideas. Are you trying to meet a quota for certain number of updates by the end of quarter? I’m sure by the end of this review there will be another update.
Ps- i love to watch my friends stream games, chat with people, and discover new games to play. i don’t love all the updates so for that you lose a star.

It’s great!
I’m a small streamer starting to get into streaming as a way of setting something up in case something goes wrong with education. It’s easy to use on my Xbox and really simple to get around. Some features are locked behind a certain criteria, and it takes ages to find out what i have to do, i had to email twitch multiple times to ask for the requirements but apart from that it’s great for streaming.
Some of my friends also stream and i can’t watch them very well on my iPhone. It always has about 3-6 unskipable 30 second ads, which puts me off watching streams.
Also i feel that smaller games aren’t advertised enough. When i’m looking for new streamers there’s always nothing about my games and it’s all Fortnite and BO6 so it’s be nice to see some smaller games to be recognised on twitch.
Apart from these few issues, i love it and i’ll continue to use it to build up my community and enjoyment on the platform!

Great content - unfortunate User Interface
Hey! Big fan of twitch, I’ve been using this site for the better part of a decade now. Unfortunately, recent changes over the last few months inspired by competing apps like “TikTok” and “Instagram Live” and “Snap chat” has drifted the user interface from a wide screen format to a portrait format. This viewing style makes many clips nearly unwatchable, as very few games actually run in portrait mode. I’ll be watching clips from fighting games, and the action will simply be off screen due to this change. In addition: the “live” section, while a nice edition, no longer allows me to view over several channels at once, instead requiring me to scroll over each one individually. This reduces the amount of content I can scope for interest at a time. I understand attempting to grow a userbase by embracing various changes, but I really do think this has impacted the usability and appeal of the application. While I still love Twitch, I’m finding myself increasingly disinterested with the mobile client due to these changes.

New layout is awful + streaming issues
The new layout is confusing and hard to follow. Would prefer the old one. Also streaming stops at times especially when using audio only
How this app manages to consistently get worse over the years astounds me.
I don’t know how but it seems that with every update this app has, the viewing experience gets worse. Issue come up like with the stream quality decreasing and even the streams lagging randomly.
But by far the worse update so far has to be this newest UI update that changes the homepage into a Tiktok style scrolling feed. How this idea not only got approved but also made and shipped is beyond me. 99% of streams are not made for this format and so are left with a blurry mess at the top and the bottom of the screen. Since it is the new home screen it replaces the following page but the “algorithm” it has sends random streams even before the one you follow does. This leads you to just finding and using the follow page to watch streams of the people you follow. ????? So what did this accomplish? All it did was add an ugly pitstop to actually going to where you want to go. Also you still can’t find categories you follow on the app, it only works on desktop.

This UI is really bad!
The app has become complicated to use and strays too far from browsing Twitch on a desktop. I understand this is the “mobile app,” and perhaps Twitch is attempting to compete with applications like IG and TikTok, but the reasons I use Twitch are not the same. I use Twitch to view my friend’s games, I don’t want to see whichever streamer I follow with the highest viewers at that moment when I open the app. I want to see the people I navigate to frequently. I then have to click and tap multiple times navigating the UI to find my buddies, and that’s annoying to me. I like the integration of stories and the ability to create mobile clips, but not giving a mobile user an easily accessible option to view a clip landscape is really bad. I can’t even discern most clips in this “mobile view.” I honestly think that’s my big big grievance- clips are so so so important to a channel and breaking them entirely on the phone application is bonkers to me! When someone hears of a channel or sees a clip somewhere else, they go to the channel, they might click on a past broadcast, but most likely they go to the clips and if this doesn’t work nearly at all on a phone?! Come on! You’re really hurting your creators! I understand what you’re going for, Twitch, and I gave it some time hoping it would change… but it hasn’t. I love Twitch but their mobile app is two thumbs down!

This layout is not it
This is the first review I’ve ever written. I’ve seen so many horrible UI changes over the years, but none have been as abrupt and in your face as twitch mobile in 2024. It took me 30 minutes using the new layout to make the decision to stop using the app entirely.
No more followed categories menu, no more vod/clip watch history (if there is, it now takes way more steps than it used to), no more easy way to preview what your followed streamers are doing, way more steps to look at past vods/clips, much more annoying to even pull up a streamer’s profile. Before I was content with just watching my followed/subscribed, but I know that finding new streamers was also much easier and more streamlined than it is now.
Like other recent reviews have said, this app is for long-form content, it is not TikTok. Either revert the main page back to how it was—moving the new “live” page somewhere else, or make the new format for clips only. But until a change is made, I’m uninstalling the app and using twitch on my phone’s browser for the foreseeable future—at least it has a somewhat well-designed interface there. Don’t hesitate to use an ad blocker either—this garbage app doesn’t deserve to waste any more of your time than it already has.

It’s okay
Only thing I don’t like with one of the updates a month or 2 ago, when you open stream, there’s no longer a list of who you follow that are streaming, you are greeted with an awful screen of either a random stream you don’t follow or a friend and I don’t like the style and you can’t even change that. I know you can legitimately look at the follow list but the main dashboard screen is painful. Also mod view just started working today for me, in mod view chat use to do the infinite loading symbol. So I’m glad it works now but sadly can’t pin messages in mod view and can’t use the pin message command (command for both normal viewing as a moderator or moderator whiles in mod view), but I assume it will eventually come to twitch mobile in some future updates.

The new update is terrible
The new layout is horrendous, and makes finding what I want on the app impossible.
Right now, I can’t even find the video I was in the middle of watching yesterday (can’t remember which streamer it was to find it manually, but watch history is missing now for some reason??), instead it just keeps making me watch “recommended” streamers I have no interest in. Not even bringing up streamers I know and follow, just random ones twitch thinks I should see.
The layout of the app should be organised for both user convenience AND advertisements, not made to favour only the latter.
Please roll back to a previous layout, this is beyond aggravating.
