Have had lots of trouble signing in. Sometimes it works. Mostly not. Love the SA Express News. Especially the Opinion section. Miss the full page of stories from journalists A LOT! Thank you.
  • Terrible App

The new version of the Express-News is terrible. It constantly flips back to the page where it has to reload, again and again. The reader must constantly deal with an advertising pop-up every time a reload occurs. The pages themselves do not smoothly expand, sending you off to another page of advertisements, which again you must dismiss in order to get back to where you were. With this marked decline from the paper’s prior app, these features make this a newspaper not worth reading.

    Developer Response

Sorry for the frustration! We'd love to learn more about the experience you're describing -- that sounds like a bug we haven't seen before. Could you email sam.guzik@hearst.com so we can get to the bottom of this.
  • Online Edition connections

The Express-News newspaper and online editions provide news we want and need.

However, it is increasingly frustrating how difficult it is to connect to the online subscription and having to repeatedly sun-in after clicking on your link.

Please improve your system. That does not occur with other news sites.

  • Bad news

The San Antonio Express News pretends it is a real newspaper. It isn’t. Its inexperienced and underpaid staff produce a product that is laughable and amateurish. No editors correct and challenge starting reporters who file shallow stories, maybe because owner Hearst has apparently fired most editors to cut costs. I don’t read this poor paper for laughs. It’s for tears for what it has been. But it is owned by a $2 billion corporation that is clearly uninterested in reporting the substantive news in the country’s seventh largest city. It’s our loss when the New York bean counters run the San Antonio asylum.

  • Hard to come by . . .

I subscribe to a “morning paper” that rarely gets delivered before 2:00 PM. And, when it does get here, it is thrown in my bushes, flower bed or on the rocks in our culvert!
My driveway is 18 feet wide and over 50 yards long. But, our drive-by delivery driver can’t seem to hit it.
I have decided to cancel my weekday subscription and just go with Sunday deliver. 🤷‍♂️

  • Understanding via Written Word

There is research that suggests we remember the main ideas when we read about a topic on paper Vs on a screen. Indeed, I’ve noticed I develop a deeper understanding when I read on paper than listening. I like to read various viewpoints as is often the case with both professional writers & letters to the editor.

  • Knowledge is power, especially on the local level

It is the upmost importance to understand what is going on on a local level. Without reporters who take the time to look into and question local politics, judicial decisions, and policies being passed all of these would go unchecked.
It is our duty to our fellow citizens of our city to support the local reporters, their writings and inquiries

  • I always learn from you

Whether it’s details about our city’s development, history, culture, governance, or individual people, I always learn something worth knowing. Letters to the editor keep my finger on the pulse of the city. Thanks for the diligence of your newsroom!
  • Staying Logged In

I am a long time subscriber to both paper and digital versions. Previously, the app (iOS) kept me logged in when I switched from article to article and sometimes it left me logged in for an extended period of time which was great. In the past two or three days, I have had to log in each time I click on a new story. It is incredibly frustrating!! Can this please be fixed? Supposedly, a new version was released a week ago with “bug fixes and performance improvements” but that is obviously not true. Your developers need to “fix” the problem that they created.

  • Can’t find the comics!

Good coverage of news. Easy to scroll through sections but have NOT been able to access any cartoons other than political ones (which were quite good)
