  • Whoa

    Game is better than the pictures make it out to be. Many modes to play, any music on your ipod can be used, and radio can also be used to find other songs from within the game.

    There is a level up system and perks which you can get to make your life easier, and can be disabled for a challenge. You can only have so many perks at one time, however, and enabling and upgrading unlocked perks requires in game money, which you collect just buy playing.

    All levels are powered by your music, and a track will have the same boss fights and enemies when you play it again, allowing you to master any tracks. There are also leaderboards intergrated with gamecenter, so competing against anyone or friends is possible.

    All this neatly bundled in a single dollar package (or at least when I bought it) gives you so much value for this game that I will highly recommend it to anyone!!

  • Great

    The game is absolutely brilliant, bought quite a few new songs JUST to use them on the game haha. The only problem I have with the floating controls is that I think you should be ale to move the 'bomb' option to where the pause button is. TOO many times I have clicked the bomb when all I was trying to do was shoot, and then when wanted to bomb, just moved the floating stick. I understand it should be tricky, but not like that haha. Great game, fantastic visuals and (besides my nit pick) great controls!

  • Just a few tweaks needed.

    Awesome app!

    Just need to make strange characters such as è and ö and the like show up properly and change the scrolling to be like the original iPod engine. Also, when choosing album it plays the album in alphabetical order rather than in the proper order of the album which should be fixed too.

    Apart from these slight changes needed, this app is amazing and totally worth every penny!

  • Great Fun!

    I've had this game a week or so and played it loads, it really is great.

    It plays like the better ones in the genre on the iPhone, with about the right scale to work on the screen. The twin stick controls, when floating, often left me stuck and using my special weapons by mistake but in fixed position they work much better. It would be nice to be able to change the position they're fixed in.

    The music selection works by track name and you can only skip forward by first letter, meaning I was looking things up in iTunes and then having to do lots of scrolling, I hope this is improved in the future.

    But aside from that this game is just a hell of a lot of fun! The many upgrades and possible combinations are sure to keep a more serious gamer occupied for a while, but it's just as easy to pick up and play and enjoy right off the bat. It's as mesmerising as the iTunes visualised but much more engaging.

    If you have even a passing interest in classic arcade games and like music visualisers, you won't go far wrong with this.

  • Easy 5 star

    I downloaded this to my Xbox awhile back and loved it when I saw it was on iOS it was a defiant buy I thought it was going to be the same I was wrong new modes greats new perk system and if people are struggling with the 2 stick layout put the buttons on fixed in your option menu or try the 1 stick layout but over all this is easily one of my top ten games just for the simple concept witch has worked like a fire starter I hope to see more great updates and future game modes rtd343

  • Only 4 stars

    Would be awesome if I could select the song I want to play or even a playlist since I have some language lessons that are 30+ minutes, which turn out to be pretty boring gameplay.
  • Awesome😃

    This is the best game ever hours of fun deserves the 5/5🎧
  • Still needs work

    This is an excellent port of the original game but there are two big issues that need to be addressed:
    - On anything less than an iPad 2 / iPhone 4S it will chug if you have intense music.
    - For some reason it does't read Unicode song titles in correctly (even though IOS completely supports unicode) so anything non-latin gets completely mangled and is unreadable when selecting music.

  • F*ing Amazing

    Just amazing ! I'm dumbfounded and gobsmacked by the sheer brilliance of this game . It really does react differently to different Muzak ;) The graphics are mesmerizingly beautiful and the controls are spot on - especially if you are used to dual stick shooters .

    I don't even have music on my iPod - I use a Cowon and rockboxed Sansa clip for music listening - the pod is strictly for apps . But ... I will remedy that :). I've had a blast so far with the 4 tracks it comes with and the Internet radio works flawlessly . Seriously if you like music and shooters it's a mandatory purchase . I'm just thinking what crazy music I'm going to put on my iPod for this game - rush , dream theater , bucket head , sphongle , bluetech, Vai, infected mushroom, the orb, porcupine tree
    megadeath lol the mind boggles at the possibilities .

    FYI

    ****!!!!! Folks you can lock the position of your joysticks in the option menu !!! So no sliding around anymore ;)

    To the guy that's stuck at the instructions - I was too . You have to scroll by moving your finger up and down the screen to highlight the menu options . I was just trying to touch the other options to highlight them ... :) to no avail .

    Enjoy

    PS. Devs please tighten up the joysticks on fixed or add a sensitivity setting and please add more types of enemies , more perks , more everything lol - in the app wore more is definitely better :) still insanely fun ! Keep updating and we'll never stop playing ;)

  • Asteroids + Seizures + Music = Beat Hazard

    ::Specs::
    iPad 1
    iOS 5.0.1

    Having played Beat Hazard on PC, I wondered if it would ever come to a mobile platform. And here it is! Gameplay is essentially Asteroids to music (if you're not aware, you're floating around in space, you shoot things). If you liked the PC version, this purchase should be a nobrainer.

    ::Pros::
    -It's a very fluid port of the PC version
    -Play your own music!
    -Pew pew pew!
    -Seizures!

    ::Cons::
    -Joysticks on the iPad version are too small
    -Movement is a tad too sensitive
    -For those with large music libraries, song browser is horrendous
    -Seizures!
    -Music influences the game very little, only determines visualisations and your firepower

    ::Suggestions::
    -Increase the size of joysticks on the iPad version
    -Get a better song browser, preferably with some kind of folder structure (like the PC!)

    ::Closing comments::
    It's a great "play your own music" game, great way to kill some time. If only Audiosurf would come to iOS...

    8/10
