Waste of time - stay away
This app was good a few years ago. Now I match with only gorgeous Asians and Eastern Europeans who say they are in in your city (and the app says we crossed paths) but are not in my city, never have been and all of them work in I.T., software or crypto and are coming to my city in a few months. The UI is actually decent! Premium isn’t worth it like the rest of the dating apps.
Now the issue I have is the overwhelming amount of fake accounts. If you’re a bit dense and can’t notice tell the difference between real and fake here are a few tips to keep you safe: poor quality photos (pixelation due to screen shot and upload compression), their IG has mysteriously been banned, they will asking for telegram straight away (scammers), 1-2 pictures, no information on their profile (hobbies, spots and bio), they will insist they are real when you call them out then get angry with you because they won’t get blackmail money off you. Evidence A) they have this match game that basically works like “pick a card”. If you pick the correct card you get a match with someone who has already swiped right on you. I took a photo of all the people I could pick playing the game. When I when back to swiping I purposely swiped right on everyone that I could have picked in the “pick a card game”. All the options in the game, every single one, none of them were actually a match. It’s all just a sham.
All the women that are in France but say they are 1 mile away, and remember that the developers are French and likely created this as a scamming platform they also reap the benefits from when people get scammed. Well they all have their social tags on their profiles but they never actually take their profiles down when you report them for trying to solicit you. So I put my social tag on my profile to see what happens and it didn’t take even 5 minutes for the developers to close my profile and ban it. Claiming I’m not allowed to have my social on my profile and ask people to reach out to me there. But what about the profile that came up 9 times in a row of the same person who had their social media on their profile.
This is a scam and the developers who are based in France are the scammers that are behind the profiles in the app.

However, some do manage to get through. If you encounter any suspicious behavior, please report it directly in the app. This helps us act quickly and ban these profiles as soon as possible. Profiles that violate these rules are removed as soon as they are identified, which is why you couldn’t have two accounts at the same time. The location-based app seems designed by people who have never worked with location-based software before. Or perhaps they have never seen a map. Or used a computer. Regardless, the result is the same: an application that presents a person in Washington DC with the profiles of people in Russia and China and identifies them as “nearby, in State Line, United States”. I am fairly certain I was the only real person in the platform. Figuring out how to delete the app was tricky - I found it hidden in Settings > My Data (that’s where developers “hide” things, btw). The exit survey is a multiple choice survey basically asking you a different version of a positive user experience - so feedback isn’t really their thing.
Huh, maybe they built the app using ChatGPT but didn’t know anything else about coding? They did a good job marketing it though!
Bottom line:

Happn used to be pretty good because there were real people on here and you could meet them. Now it’s overrun with bots and scammers. And it’s not just my opinion – look at all of the recent reviews (now it’s July 2024) and everyone is complaining about the same thing – fake profiles. The likelihood of matching with a real person here has become low and so it’s a complete waste of time. And Happn keeps asking me if it’s OK to track me everywhere. Yeah, right. I contacted support about the fakes, and they pretend not to know anything about this problem, making claims that they work very hard to keep fake accounts off. While some other dating apps have figured out a way to keep the bots in check, the approach Happn has taken is to let them take over, or perhaps the app wants them and is set up for them. About five years ago, this was a good app where you could meet real people. But now, it’s just a scam delivery system. Whoever runs this app really does not care about the user experience. Having just moved to a new country I tried a few different dating apps. The idea of this one sounded great, however 4/5 people I “crossed paths with” turn out to be scammers/bots. I have never experienced that on any of the other major apps, this one needs to really work on getting that problem under control.
Other than the fake profiles I have ever only crossed paths with one person it seems, so maybe the app is also just not used by many people.Show lessPhilipp_94

Within two days of creating my account I made a dozen gorgeous matches. It quickly became apparent they were all trying to catfish me however, with multiple matches using the same uncommon names and even the same pictures on multiple accounts in different orders. Reverse image search proved they were using stolen Instagram pictures from Russian models.
While more conversational than the general fake account, I’d rather not waste my time matching with fake profiles claiming to be in Belarus intending to visit my city while using stolen photographs.
The developers need to clean house and improve both their detection of geo spoofing, and remove the passport feature until the app is usable locally. I’d also suggest they run some kind of detection for the same photos being used on multiple accounts to try and trim the fakes.Show lessdkNigs

The app is essentially a scam. After using it intermittently for about three years with my Facebook account, I was suddenly banned. When I contacted customer support, they claimed I was banned for creating and using a fake account. I asked for mor details, as all my information is genuine. They then demanded my government ID, which I refused to provide. I asked them to delete my images and profile, but they responded that they couldn't because my account was banned. They holding my personal information without my consent, which is a violation of privacy. It's absurd that they label my profile as fake but won't delete it. Horrible app.
Also the process itself, you won’t meet anyone basic, bunch of people who will match with and never say hi! Some even you never cross path with because they are in a different states or even countries. Do pay nothing for this none sense basically a scam and please check other reviews.Show lessM A R V E L

I had the app for less than 3 days. No conversations. Even did the verification process. Then suddenly for no reason my account was banned with no reason why. I contacted support and got absolutely no response and was unable to get it resolved nor as reason as to why they suddenly banned my account.
Edit: The problem was finally resolved and my account was reinstated so I updated my rating. I would recommend a quicker and more detailed customer service time. The response I received stated my account had been banned for a misunderstanding and was reinstated. I don’t understand what kind of “misunderstanding” occurred but I appreciate the problem being resolved.Show lessAreynolds317
