Amazing!
MIDI Designer is what made me buy an iPad, and I am so glad I did. This is such an incredibly versatile app. If you put in the effort to learn a few MIDI skills then there are limitless possibilities. If you are just happy to use available layouts then there are lots out there.
If you need help there is a very responsive community ready to assist - and the devoured is very active in this regard too.

THE ipad remote control app that works!
Well, it does for me. I have designed a layout for Fender Cyber Twin and am currently building some layouts for Lexicon PCM 80/81.
I started my ipad remote control journey with Touch OSC. Midi Designer Pro 2 is just plain more powerful. Originally, I found MDP2 graphics not to my liking. I was used to the more plain TouchOSC gfx. Nevermind how it looks, though, MDP2 can do things well beyond TouchOSC. Supercontrollers being one of many assets TouchOSC doesn't have.
The big difference for designing a remote control layout is how a user creates it. With TouchOSC a computer program is required to design and then upload to tablet. To create a Midi Designer layout the design is all carried out directly on ipad/ iphone. I do prefer to design on a computer where values can be typed in and elements can be nudged. It can be very tedious designing directly on a tablet. I learned to "roll" my fingers rather than drag or swipe for fine control placement. That is pretty much my only negative.
Connecting via bluetooth I found to be easy. Not so much for TouchOSC. With MDP2, a set up is easily achieved without a computer, which I love.
The developer has also been incredibly helpful on their forum. Super nice comms with Dan :-)
For my purposes I am using a huge number of variable SysEx messages and MDP2 has handled it beautifully so far.

Horrible about everything, but very powerful. Too bad no alternatives.
I can only regret that it’s the only app on the market that can do so much on midi control.
Everything about this app is quirky and I cannot imagine experience using any app that could be worse than this. Literary every feature is hidden or hard to find in the least logical area or menu. The menus are hard to read or understand It seems like the hidden agenda of the author is to make fun of common sense and his users.
Feels really depressing to be stuck with just this one offering on the whole iOS app market.Show lessIgor Khomenko
***** The best iPad interface for Strymon Pedals *****
I purchased midi designer to operate my Strymon Pedals using my IPad Pro 2019 - and save my back trying to bend down to the pedals.
All those Banks and Presets !!
The Strymon layout provided worked PERFECTLY - after I used the midi log to discover that the layout used channel 4 for BIGSKY and channel 3 for TIMELINE.
Just set the midi channels and appropriate midi settings on the pedals and Voila !!
BRILLIANT!! 5 stars from me.

The more I learn...
(Still Works) It appears Midi Designer has usurped the top position in Screen Time. After simply fiddling with the app for a few years, I can’t get enough of it. Making simple controllers for both hardware and software synths, they become mine in the sense of custom control and a breath of new life that inspires creativity.Show lessDcs1771

This app is a beast. I initially had a few issues, but was quickly contacted by the developer who solved my issues.
This thing is a power house for midi solutions and I actually really enjoy nerving out on the set up.Stick Martin

THE midi controller app !
I have bought and tried to use many, if not all of the midi controller apps out there, many of which are incredible in their own right but for me, difficult to actually implement and use creatively. However this incredible app is SO user friendly. The UI and workflow have been created to place minimum pressure and thought cycles on the user, allowing a creative musician to just DO the things they want to to without having to think too much, or too mechanically and allow for an intuitive process to aid your music making. I just can’t say enough good things about this app. Generally I would not use iOS apps in my performances on big stages as they are just not reliable enough, but I have used this for several years on stage and it’s never let me down yet. Superb App
Just brilliant. An amazing user midi controller building set. Covers just about anything you could need to control your midi hardware or software. A medium learning curve but well worth the effort. Easy to get into with lots of set-ups from users available for you to download and use as a starting point for your own design.Show lesselectrosim2001
Incredibly helpful tool.
Midi Designer Pro 2 has helped me control an older Wavedrum that required sysex to have access to all of its parameters. My desktop daw couldn’t send sysex. No problem now. MDP2 can convert any MIDI information. This was crucial to what I do and I am very grateful this app exists.Hypnopad
