Good app in iPhone

The app works very well on the phone, but it does not work with the iwatch, even though I have the subscription, you can not change anything and ask for the subscription.

Response from developer

Sorry about that - there is a currently a glitch with our premium signup process. We're working on a fix that will be ready soon.

Keeps crashing.

Try and start the cardio part of the workout and the app closes.

Doesn’t work on Apple Watch without phone close by

I have a cellular Apple Watch 4 and this app was constantly just searching for my iPhone when it was on cellular. I bought the watch so I didn’t have to have my phone so this app isn’t helpful. I could enter everything in manually after my work out maybe but that’s not worth the premium subscription fee. Disappointed, I hope they fix this so it works on Apple Watch when it’s on cellular. It would be perfect

App crashes - timer bug

Great app but it crashes every time more than 1 timer is going at the same time. Usually happens when I have timers set as part of an exercise, but switch to mix in a different exercise. The app crashes on reopen and will only function once the timer(a) time out.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. We'll investigate and come up with a fix for the next update.

Few problems

Biking
Every time I touch RPM it crashes!

Rowing
In the rowing exercise if you touch “Pace” or “RPE” the app just crashes every time.
All I want to do is put the time it took me to get to 100m for example. The time and discount is illogical too. Not sure why they are on separate tabs.

Otherwise very good and simple app.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. We're working on a fix for the crash bug when you switch between Pace & RPE. The option to add to Apple Health is presented on our iPhone app when you log a workout which includes cardio exercise. If you use our watch app during the workout, it is always added to the Health app, automatically.

Great app but....

I’ve used it for severe years now, I believe since inception. It’s smooth, to the point, and user friendly. My only issue is the transition to the Apple Watch. It’s dependent to my phone. I’d like to use the app without my phone. Unfortunately I’ve stopped the subscription until that happens. Thank you for all you have given and I’m sure you will grow.

Frustrating

I wanted to love this app so bad. But the purpose of this app is to log my workouts. However, every time I click on the “based on previous workout” tab, it never works! It’s so frustrating.
Please fix this problem

Response from developer

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with Base On Previous Workout. I haven't heard of any issues with that feature. If you email me at graham@reps.io, I'll work out what's going on and come up with a fix.

I paid for the app now treated like someone who didn’t pay for it

Terrible way to run a business. I paid for the app and now most of the exercises are locked behind a subscription wall because the app is now free.

Response from developer

Currently there are only 46 premium exercises in Reps & Sets, out of a total of over 500. Which means the vast majority of exercises are still free. These premium exercises were added after we switched to freemium, which means all of the exercises that you paid for are still available to you. These pre-loaded exercise are just there for convenience. If you prefer not to subscribe, you have the option to add the exercises you need yourself, at not extra charge. Just tap the Add (+) button in the Exercises tab. The only difference in doing it this way is that you don't get the illustration. We switched to freemium business model three years ago, and there have been several updates to the app since then to support new hardware and iOS versions, which have been funded by our premium subscribers and are available free of charge to all our users.

Everything you need

I’ve used the app on a phone for years, and loved it. It does exactly what you need a gym app to do.

However, I’ve just started using it with my watch, and wow. My rest times and more consistent, my focus is up, and it does more than I ever bought it did.

Just download this app if you want a gym app. It’s the best one.

Does the job for a mostly free app

I think this app is good. It’s pretty much free unless you want lots more exercises and Apple Watch support. If you want that, the monthly subscription is far cheaper than other apps out there - there some ridiculous prices for subscriptions on this App Store!! But for free, there’s more than enough exercises in this app to cover your typical strength training gym session. I’ve been using it to create my own gym workout routine and it works really well. Easy to adjust as you go along, and update the routine at the end.
Why only 4 stars? I have come across 1 bug which crashes the app. I’d also like to see the ability to “chain” together timed exercises and rests for creating your own HIIT routine or some sort of loop/repeat function. As it stands the app doesn’t really support creating your own HIIT routine very well. You can create a routine, say 30 seconds cycling and 30 seconds rest, but it’s a bit long winded and you have to manually press the “>” icon at each interval, to signify you have completed it - it moves on to the rest interval, but then doesn’t automatically move on to the next work interval (hope that makes sense).
I’d also like to see the ability to mark a set as complete complete from the iPhone lock screen widget - but that might be asking too much for the free version. 😃
Overall very pleased with the app, it’s functional and doesn’t cost the Earth like others. 👍🏻
