  • A bit of a learning curve, regular updates

I nearly panicked in December 2014 when our church decided to go digital when replacing our gradually failing mixer. Our PA team has a few nearing retirement adults like me, a young adult, a few college students, and about a half dozen high school students.

Our old system had a stack of wireless mic receivers stacked next to the old mixer. We did not have enough budget for commercial cables to put everything into a rack, so I learned how to solder XLR. After each increment in installation, I tested the system was still fully functional. It took several weeks to get everything into the rack, including the new antenna splitters and all the wireless mic receivers. The transition went well although I lost a bit of sleep learning the language of mixers then adjusting the settings. The biggest challenge was dropping preconceived ideas, and just trusting the manual and go with the easy interpretation.

They came through with the promised app updates. Our control of the sound is incredibly better. One of our college students got married and moved away. We trained in a new high school student. We did not let a former member, who said it would be fun to mess with the settings, know the network password. We still like each other, but no.

Several of the younger team members prefer to use the traditional view when adjusting the sound. I like the more modern view. Recording to a portable hard-drive is a breeze. I could not figure that out in the directions; just hit the record button, and it works.

  • Youth Sound Board

This app works great with our youth music. I love the ability to take an additional iPad outside the sound booth to mix live on the floor.
  • Brilliant app... But

I bought my DL1608 when it first came out love it, once you get use to flying round the different pages, it becomes second nature....
BUT, Thousands of users have been asking for , EQ Spectrum Analyser overlays. & Use with IOS, they are lagging behind there rivals ,
  • MF 3

Love this new app, works great and offers a lot of features not found in the original app.

Mackie has done a nice job with this and has continues to provide upgrades and support for this app on a regular basis.
  • Oh boy....

I've been using this program for about 9 months now and have to say it is spectacular. Until the latest update. The thing I lived about this program is its stability. It's rock solid. Can't say that with the update. Program froze during my last show. Luckily the band was about to break, 10 min, and I close it, then restarted and we got back to normal. If I wanted something buggy and that freezes I would have purchased a behringer x-air system.

  • Not good enough

If this app worked as planned it would be a fantastic addition to my live toolkit. As it stands I would have much rather stuck with the restricted but fully functioning MF2 than the current version, the release of which seems to have been to keep up with Behringer's publicity machine. My very useful DL1608 is now a liability in any medium pressure gig where adjustments need to be precise and timely. EQ changes are jerky and delayed, saving any setting involves up to 20 secs of freeze while things need attention elsewhere.

I've waited long enough for these issues to be addressed and you've chosen to release sales speak bull:;-t in response.

I will be reluctantly recommending the band buy a Behringer X32 Compact as soon as practical.

Update: v3.02 sees huge improvements in lag. I've got quite a busy weekend so will be keeping one iPad at v3.01 but will probably risk trying out this one with v3.02 for an hour or so if I'm feeling confident.

  • Getting there but faster on lightning connector

Like many others I found the update problematic when using it with an older 3rd gen iPad.
Awful lag and occasional lock ups.
Since swapping the iPad connector to the Lightning version and switching to an IPad 4 things are much improved.
Yes - it's more complicated than the older version but it has more functionality and in my opinion worth the extra effort.
I do wish you could review/playback recordings made on the 806 and 1608 machines locally without having to export them through iTunes however.
The v3 My Fader app for the iPhone is coming soon which will be great to have back.

  • Not ready for pro use!

V3 is a train wreck! Unusably laggy and cluttered. If you have V2 DO NOT UPGRADE! I found a way to revert to V2 from my (thankfully non-updated version saved in my iTunes!) and force updated my DL1608 to V2 and am happily mixing again. MACKIE FIX THIS! It has given you a black eye.....and if I cannot trust you to do your homework and ONLY put products out that are well-thought-out and properly tested, then I will be forced to look elsewhere.

  • Mr

    Very Glitchy!!! Must do better
  • Separate The Apps

Can you PLEASE just make a separate app for the 1608. This update is probably overloading the processor hence causing all that lag and freezing. My iPad is always very HOT when I'm running my mixer now. I purchased a brand new iPad solely dedicated for this, so I don't even have any other apps installed. WiFi is always having a hard time getting synced, and sometimes won't sync at all. Being wireless was one of the main reasons for choosing this mixer.
