DO NOT UPGRADE! (UPDATED)

Update 3. Back down to 1star. Latest firmware bricked my $300 bridge. Now I can't use my blinds.

In my original review I had given only 1 star. I'm changing to 4 after the fixed update. Customer service was pretty quick. I sent an email and had a response in 2 days and within 2 weeks the new update was ready and seems to be working just fine. I still think it lacks some functionality, but overall it is a cool way to control your blinds. And the rooms and scenes make it quite easy to have a few different setups for different times of day or different activities.

*original review* The new upgrade and firmware upgrade for the bridge keeps crashing the bridge and there seems to be no way to return the firmware to its previous state. Now I have $10,000 worth of blinds that don't work

Works Great particularly for intermediate settings.

I have two rooms that have three HD Sillouette shades in three windows in each room. This App makes it easy to set intermediate shade levels. Using a slider it is easy to set a specific height or angle for all three shades at the same time.

Setting up the App is a little confusing at first but once you get the hang of it actually quite easy.

Perfect

The App is great for my honeycomb blinds. Super easy. Slide the bar up and the blinds go up, slide the bar down and they go down. I set up a routine so they automatically go down at night. Highly recommend it as an inexpensive add on to Hunter Douglas blinds.

Sunrise/sunset where?

I was happy to see that the update includes sunrise/sunset options, but when using it, the blinds move well after sunrise and sunset here. I've enabled location services on my phone but it seems to think that sunrise and sunset here are about two hours after the local sunrise/sunset. Any idea how I can check to see what time the app using for these events?

Upgrade problems

I have had this for 1 yr. So many problems for the first 4 months. I was given a new bridge and all worked quite well until the last upgrade in January 2014. Settings are not consistent. The graphic in the app that represents the open and close position never matches the real setting of the blind. I have spent close to $10k for all of these blinds and feel like Iโ€™ve had six months of things working as promised. Very disappointedโ€ฆagain.

Cool app

This app does what it should but could be more intuitive. Pretty cool to be able to control blinds from an iPhone or iPad. Love the scene control and the fact that we can schedule day by day. Now that they added the sunrise and sunset feature that was missing is even better except the sun seems to rise 3 hours later than in reality. The app is requesting access to location services but it is not possible to see the data it is using or see the time zone it is using. Hope they fix it in the next iteration. I am glad I bought the bridge and got this app.

Sunshade

As a window covering dealer I am really impressed with this app. It's hands down the easiest way to automate Hunter Douglas shades. The ease of use an simplicity of the interface makes it an easy setup for the end user. I've set it up many different ways in our showroom and out home an it works like a dream. Although it will never replace hardwired window coverings, If you haven't already pre wired for blinds then this is the way to go.

Unreliable

After spending thousands of dollar we have this system which is extremely frustrating and randomly stops working. I can't find any useful online information for troubleshooting the system. It's been a huge waste of time and a nuisance.

I wish we had just got blinds from our home automation vendor.

Was not straight forward but works

I have 6 blinds in the same room to control. I followed the instructions and setup my transmitter and bridge with my router. It was not straight forward but not tough either; after a few tries I got the connection working. Programming and syncing the shades were also not straight forward but I have everything running and the timer programmed within 45 minutes. This whole thing is a little finicky--not all shades respond every time.

Let's hope I do not join the other reviewers in the weeks to come! Fingers crossed. I'll update my review shortly.

Wait until the system is perfected

We have had the silhouette shades installed on most windows on the main floor of our house for about six months. We had a few problems initially with programming and functionality, but once those were ironed out the system worked fairly well for several months. We did have occasional problems with the shades not following the programmed schedule. After a few months, the shades became more erratic in responding to the scheduled programming. When we complained to Hunter Douglas, they suggested we wait for the latest app upgrade. I loaded the upgrade and continued to have problems. I was then informed that I needed to delete all of the shades from the system and reinstall all of them. I did that. I reinstalled and reprogrammed all of the shades which took a few hours. After I finished, the shades still did not follow the programmed schedule. I had the same experience some other people have indicated. The shades would go up or down at random times not even part of the schedule. I tried to manually open and close shades with the app from my iPhone, but the system would not respond. I deleted the app from my iPhone and reinstalled it. Now the app will not even connect with the router and the bridge to run the shades at all. Hunter Douglas needs to get its act together. I would wait to buy this system until it has been perfected. It is really great when it works properly.
