  • Very well done! (some features needed)

This is very cool! What I would like to see is copy/paste, in-app sampling, pinch zoom, reverse SLICES (not just entire sample) and what would make this app phenomenal and worth $15 would be automation sequencing/editing like many music making studio apps. At least go for midi support or WIST so that I can use nanostudio or beatmaker to fine tune songs. This is a great app to do live jamming, but there's no interface for creating/editing/saving songs and performances, just projects. This makes it extremely limited in it's use, yet there's incredible potential!

Other things: pre-roll, looping or overdubbing, or at least an indicator to when a track has looped. It's frustrating to start one track a bar behind the other tracks, or to record one track 8 bars long and another 6 bars because they don't sync up easily, and also there's no way to fix it except clear it and re-record it.

Anyway, I can't wait for future improvements but this thing is solid and wonderful for a $5 v1.0 app.

    Thank you!

  • I rarely write reviews but...

The app is hands down the most inspiring, creative, intuitive, and useful music creation tool.. I've come across..in the App Store.. period! The UI is beautifully modeled after Teenage Engineering's OP-1 portable synthesizer. It's responsiveness and onboard effects make it a joy to use. With features that are so unique and flexible, it's easy to get lost in the moment of creativity. Digital music creation.. finally more organic, the way it was intended to be! I'm sure you'll realize the power and potential this app has to offer as soon as you open it. Thank you to the developers! I look forward to seeing more. My OP-1 also thanks you kindly!

  • Best interface

The main thing about Samplr in my opinion other than the obvious, is the interface. The way the interface feels to me is very OP-1 influenced... which is a good thing by the way. It's logical and responsive in a way that few apps have achieved. I'm really loving the sounds and general feel of using Samplr, it really makes me what to go back to using this app over and over again.

Please add audio copy and paste. Adding samples through iTunes is tedious and quite frankly, something I will never do. And thanks for supporting iOS 5, I'm not updating to ios 6 again until apple fixes it.

Samplr is visually and sonically addictive, so get addicted.

  • Looks and plays great, would like to see some features

Samplr is the best execution I have seen of an app like this, where you play triggered samples, and quickly get musical results in an entertaining way. The handsome interface recalls Teenage Engineering's OP-1 synth. The tool set includes every logical tool you'd think should be there with some fun ones added as well.

My only reason for holding back one star is the way in which you have to import samples, by tethering to a computer. How long has Audio Copy/Paste been around? It is a standard at this point. MIDI would be nice too.

This is an excellent app, and I can't wait for updates.

  • Fantastically usable app; needs improvements with file import/export and OSC/MIDI interoperability

Big bang for the price. If you're looking for an app with great usability and sample manipulation, grain control, etc. this is probably the best one. I probably have 10 similar apps that do not do as well.

This lets you go deep without being overly menu driven. Some others go deeper still, but at some point you're just geeking out on details - which is awesome, but for $5 app this beats them all and is not over simplified or low on functionality. You could spend weeks mastering it. I'm looking forward to doing that, but I can tell I won't need to learn it all before being able to put it to use, and have fun with it.

For those who have been burned by other sampler apps, this is no Jordan Rudess hyped junk that falls short. I'd put it up there with Animoog, Beatmaker and Figure and GarageBand for quick usability with great sound, but has plenty to tweak and get lost in details with when you want to.

Excellent for a 1st release, and for the price. ***** I hope coremidi, inter-app control and audiocopy, drag n drop export, import, etc. are added soon, because I love this app and can tell I'll be using it a lot!!!
