Great app but…

This is a great app for ship tracking and as I’m a member of the RNLI, I love the notifications you can set for your choice of Lifeboat at the Lifeboat Station you’re interested in. However, could we have real-time tracking and not a 10 minute countdown before auto refresh tracking? I appreciate that I only pay for Starter package but real-time tracking would be far better, especially when ships are leaving port. Other than that a “Follow Vessel” would be an advantage. Thank you!

This once useful App is no longer reliable.

I’ve used Marine Traffic for years, I pay for the subscription as well. The App uses AIS (Automatic Identification System) to track vessels outfitted with an AIS transponder. Up to and including the summer of 2023 this app worked great. I could track vessels that I interact with daily with up to the minute accuracy, sometimes it would lag for a few hours but it was still very valuable. This year (2024) all of that changed. The commercial vessels I work with only show on this app intermittently or just stop tracking a vessels AIS altogether for days on end. This isn’t just for one vessel, it is common for all of the vessels I work with. Some vessel types such as tugs and container ships seem to be tracked up to the minute, however the commercial fishing vessels are no longer reliably shown. Do not use this app for marine safety, it is no longer reliable.

Using Marine Traffic App

I have spent my working life-time in aviation. Last week I went on Cruise Trip to Norway. I enjoyed it but I wanted to know about Marine Activities. I researched and finally settled for Marinetraffic App which provided all background information about my ship and all the places it visited and everything else in the journey too. Now I use the App and track ships throughout their journeys. Thank You To all those people who developed this App.

Very informative

Fabulous app.! We use the app to see where our favorite cruise ship is and when on the esplanade to look up which ship/boat is that.
Great to track when a ship has been where it’s going, just a little fun hobby. The free part of this app ticks all the boxes for what I need it for.

Great app for watching boats etc

I use this for tracking people I know when we’re trying to co-ordinate etc.

Has limitations away from data, but then if you’re in those situations I would suggest you shouldn’t be relying on your app anyway.

Don’t waste your money or your time.

The tracking is out of date. The developers want you to pay $1.99 just to track for a 24 hour period. I work on various boats and after the tracking wasn’t working I even tried paying for the 24 hour tracking but this still doesn’t work.

SCAM. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Our company has paid for other services that plug into the AIS network and these all work perfectly, this app doesn’t work.

Before the developers try and respond and say please email them so they can fix the issue well they never fix the issue. Look at all the negative reviews going back years. It’s obvious they either can’t or don’t want to fix the issue.

Deleting. Waste of money.
