Vastly improved and a joy to use
I can recall this app from a few years ago when I used to be commuting on Northern many days of each week - and it was horrible and I was glad when I didn’t have to catch the train each day because that meant not having to use this (deleted) app.
Imagine my surprise that now I am a pensioner and can have a railcard I should download this app thinking OMG please no not that (deleted) thing again and only to find everything about its been changed and its a joy to use - well done Northern and well done the developers.Show lessNigel Oulton
Easy & reliable app - best I’ve used
I’ve used a number of different apps including Trainline, TrainPal and several different operators but this is my favourite: it’s easy to use and gives you electronic tickets wherever possible that can also be added to your Apple wallet so that you can find and show them with a double click of your thumb. Odd train runs late but it is the odd one, never the one when I’m late. I use the train mostly to go in to Sheffield from the suburbs, cheaper, much quicker and all round more pleasant than the less reliable bus service. The only thing I’d ask for would be more frequency.mymanp

Easy to use. It always has the most up-to-date information on if a train is canceled, which unfortunately happens rather a lot on this line. It’s easy to see all the pricing and timing options so you can pick exactly what you want. I’ll never use a ticket machine again.Amogha12345

It’s not often you hear about positive aspects of rail travel so here we go! I’ve used Northerns app to book daily tickets at various times to various locations and it’s always been effortless. The live tracker is really useful when initially booking a train and keeping you updated on its progress.Dipstick6

It’s been great to see this app continuing to improve with each update, user feedback is clearly taken into account to help drive the development of the app which is great to see.
Super easy to buy tickets with Apple Pay and the live times also works well.

This is not the first time that I have used the app but I’ve never left a review before. I can only say that it is a really user friendly app that gets straight to the point. Most of the time this is an excellent app, and it’s good to see the continual improvements and bug fixes. But several mornings over the last couple of weeks the purchase process fails - it appears to take payment (Apple pay), but after a longer delay than normal, rather than delivering a ticket it comes back with a fail a message. Subsequent attempts also fail. It’s not my connection that’s at fault and I’m using latest app and iOS.Show lessLost intransitive

Nice quick and easy way to book your northern train tickets. Straight forward and easy to use. Always use apps like this and book directly with the train operators. Why use the Trainline and pay a booking fee when you can book directly here and pay no extra fees!Ben’s iTunes
