Shop & Scan

I’ve been a loyal Meijer customer my entire life. When Meijer came to my town in Indiana I was there on opening day. Shop & scan became available during Covid I started using it and it has been my main way to shop at Meijer. I appreciate the time saving method that it allows. The recent update to shop and scan I don’t like. Prior to this update it would show your coupons within your cart. It would also ask you/tell you if you forgot to clip a coupon. It was the best! This most recent update doesn’t show the coupons until you’re at the checkout and have downloaded your purchases to the cash register. By then you’re checking out and ready to go. The checkout is supposed to be a quick process, not holding up customers in line. Please review this as it does seem deceptive, although that may be too strong of a word, that I can’t see the coupons like we could before and make sure that I am taking advantage of all the cost savings that are available to me. Thank you.

Worst pickup experience

I had a pickup order yesterday that was awful. Over $20 of missing items. They substituted two items without asking and did not even change it on the order receipt to show what they did. Then all 12 ice creams I purchased arrived melted like milkshakes. Two had seal removed and ended up all over the other groceries. The worst part is that I created a case AND sent email but nobody has responded in well over 24 hours. It seems that the customer service is least of the company’s concern now. They used to be the only store we bought groceries from. After this I cannot see returning. Especially if they don’t fix their mistakes

UPDATE: I created a case and sent separate emails to customer service. They replied one time stating that they were not willing to do anything about it other than allowing me to exchange the two ice creams that were substituted without approval. Nothing about missing or damaged items. I asked how I could exchange those two products since they never put them in my order. They just replaced my requested one and the receipt says only the original product I didn’t get. They never answered so I have been stuck with what they sent me. I am unwilling to make a trip to store without knowing it will work

Terrible experience

One day a couple of weeks ago, the Meijer app told me it needed an update (AGAIN.) After updating, it would no longer allow me to sign in, saying my browser wasn’t allowing cookies (untrue.) After fiddling with my settings, toggling EVERY switch to no avail, I tried resetting my password. Guess what? The email with the link to reset never arrived. I tried resending it, nothing. This process was repeated numerous times, until finally I decided to call their customer care line. I was greeted with a cheery sales pitch for some promotion for people over fifty, and after declining it, another sales pitch for some kind of insurance. Mind you, I already feel like I’ve wasted so much life on this. But having TWO sales pitches greet me when I’m trying to get some help was too much. I spammed the “0” button to see if a human being was anywhere within reach. So then the call was ended from their side. When I redialed I was told “You have dialed a number that is not reachable from your calling area.” They blocked my number?
I’m with the previous reviewer, this feels like Meijer is squeezing customers for money or data, and if they can’t get either, they’re not interested in your business. So disappointed!

Convoluted & broken

Ordering online for pickup should make life easier, but due to the constant crashing, lags, and worst of all, insane pop ups that I can’t view the order that meijer just instructed me to review for substitutions is absolutely insane. What’s the point of directing me to review substitutions in the app, when the app refuses to let me review the order until after I’ve picked it up? Also means I can’t notify the local workers that I’m on my way, unless opening the link in a desktop browser, which I am rarely conveniently near to. I see no practical reason to boot customers out of orders they’ve placed.

Also, there is no way to use EBT/SNAP card on the app. Must be used on desktop only, and always typed in manually each time. So many other retailers allow saving & checking out with EBT/SNAP via the mobile app, why on earth wouldn’t Meijer?

I’ve had plenty of the same issues that other users have mentioned in their reviews, namely having to keep logging in and location services being wildly inaccurate (yes, I have location turned on for the app). Get your ish together please. Being in rural America doesn’t give us many options, and the Meijer corp is definitely large enough to provide these fundamental features in their mobile app.

Constant Issues with this Company

Meijer, If you are going to have buy one get one “free” coupons maybe you should actually make the second item free. Coupon is only taking off 1/2 price for second item. Tried to order online for pick up and price keeps changing and none of the coupons are working correctly. I checked to make sure the app was up to date on my end and it is as well as my phone is newer so that’s not the problem. Your app keeps crashing also. Please fix these issues so we can order online and receive the correct discounts. Also some of your customer service people are the worst!! I’ve called about issues previously and so far none are helpful and have said things like “what do you want me to do about it” and not in the helpful way either or “you need to talk to the store associate ”. I told them I did speak with someone at the store and their next question was “did that person work at the store?” Come on Meijer, you can do better than that! Why are you spending money on CS if they aren’t able to help with issues or understand what consumers are saying to them. Maybe the money spent on CS could be better used to lower your prices and help your community instead.

Updated my review

Edited: Will update my review because I am not sure it is Meijer app that is the issue. I had trouble signing on after an update and after researching more in-depth it could possibly be an internet issue. As soon as I took my phone off of wi-fi for a minute was able to sign on use the app and not one issue now. It is working with correctly now. I will also say that this is the best app I have ever used for shopping and I was very upset when I couldn’t use it. It is very user friendly and I shouldn’t have given it one star for one issue.

I hate when they update an app and make it completely useless. I always used my Meijer app but now since the new update it is worthless. I can’t sign on or use myperks. Must have an account to shop and scan but can’t do that either. Well good bye Meijer hello Kroger. I am very upset because I have lost my 70,000 mperks points.

This app needs some work!

This has to be one of the worst grocery store apps on my phone. Honestly, I don’t even know why I don’t just delete it. I check the box to ‘stay signed in’ but I’m always NOT signed in. I set my store preference every time I have to re-login, and somehow it changes WHILE I’m using the app. I search the ‘sale’ category of certain products but every time I select an item for more info, read it, then go back to the sale list, it doesn’t take me back to where I left off, it takes me back alllll the way to the beginning. When I add an item to my list (sometimes it goes to my list, sometimes to my cart…), you can’t adjust the quantity of that item you want at the ‘add’ screen, you have to add it, go to the list, tap the item, then change the quantity…but the box that contains the quantity is obscured three-fourths of the way by the keyboard! If you tap ‘done’ to try to make the keyboard disappear so you can put your cursor in the ‘quantity’ box, it closes that whole screen and returns you to the list. So infuriating! Also, the app doesn’t give you the ability to shop your list ‘by aisle’ which is exceedingly frustrating! Shopping is already an arduous enough task, I don’t really need the app to make it harder…but, for me, it sure does! It’s honestly one of the main reasons I shop at Kroger instead of Meijer. Might sound overly-dramatic, but it’s true.

Search function needs work

I can’t log into the app. I used to be able to use Touch ID and it’s not even an option. When I thought I forgot my password it didn’t recognize my email. Went on browser and can log in. I’d appreciate not having to always log in.

I am searching for air conditioners. I know our local store carries both window and portable units. But when I type in “air conditioner” only one window unit shows up. I know there are a couple BTU options but only one shows up. To find the portable unit I had to find the item by scrolling through all the products. Come to find out that “ac” brings up that air conditioning unit. I have encountered this while grocery shopping. If an exact term isn’t used, the product won’t be found. I do like that in the grocery section it tells you what aisle to find the product. That would be very helpful for all departments. I am hesitant to use “shop and scan” because there are too many products that aren’t found in the system when I check for prices.

Very Finicky App and CONSTANTLY Crashes

I’ve updated my review from three stars to two because this app keeps giving me more and more problems no matter how many times it’s updated by its developers. The Meijer app constantly crashes, about every 30 seconds or so and it makes my phone overheat like crazy. I don’t have an older phone, either, so I know my phone is not the problem. On top of it crashing this often, it also does not let you modify the wording in your list, and sometimes even attempting to do that will trigger a crash. Your list doesn’t even tell you where anything is located in the store, if you’d like to know where items are at you have to type each individual item into the search bar and only then will it tell you. Also, at least once a month for some unknown reason the app will sign you out of your account completely and you need to sign back in and select your preferred store location, over and over again. This app leaves a lot to be desired in terms of usability and ease of navigation. I think Meijer needs new developers for their app because I have none of these problems with any other store’s apps I use regularly.

I so badly want this app to function

The app has a lot of great features, I just wish they consistently worked properly. A lot of times they have “mperks” coupons that are “online only deals”. This is great! The sales are usually pretty good, which is the only thing that keeps me trying. But, alas, every single time I try to place an online order there is SOME SORT OF ISSUE. it is incredibly frustrating and such a waste of time. Currently, they are running a baby sale. I’m adding diapers to my cart specifically from the coupons tab on the app and the coupon isn’t applying. This happens consistently every time I’ve placed or TRIED to place an order in the past. I’ve cleared my cart completely, force closed the app, and tried to start over, to no avail. I have brought online sales to the attention of my friends in the past and every time any of us have placed an order or tried to, we come across the same scenario. You are a big grocery chain in my area…. You should be able to get this right!
