Easy to use.

I like the layout - exactly like a calendar . Especially monthly display. I can have a quick glance of all my schedule. Like it. Can’t live without it. I am serious!

Weird default to multiple calendars

Hi
I have many joined calendars -
But when I enter a new event - it defaults to a random calendar.
Not my default and not even the last one I added an event for.
When I open the app it used to default to my default calendar and if I was entering for a linked account I had to change it -
Now it picks its own and I have to go change it.

Same app with subscription based.

This is pretty much the same app as Calendar 5. For most users it’s literally the same app but with an annual fee. The weather feature could’ve been added to Calendar 5.

Let me note that you don’t have to pay the subscription as the Calendars app offers a Lifetime version. Great app but….

I never right review but I am writing this one because I love the app so much. There is only one thing that has lead me to not use it as I would like too and that is the integration of the Apple Watch. I may leave my phone in the office and would like to get notifications of upcoming tasks and events on my watch and that’s not available. I have looked through about 30 apps and have came to this one and this is my only problem which means the app is great but because of that one thing I can’t use it or would need to pair it with another app.

I really hope in the future this feature is enabled as I would love to just stick to this app but unfortunately is one of the main reasons I’m on the hunt for one now. Also time stamping task and them showing up in the order of time but I can live without that if worse comes to worse. Thanks for reading my comment and have a great day!

Bring back the non-pro free version

Have used the free version for 6 years, now you have dropped it in favour of a subscription pro model with features I will never use. Please bring back the basic version of Calendars 5

Response from developer

Hi, thank you for sharing this. You will retain access to Calendars 5 and are not required to migrate to the Calendars app. While the subscription may seem like an added cost, Calendars is competitively priced and ensures long-term sustainability. It offers more features, including Calendars for Mac, integrated Apple weather, improved RSVP management, and Interesting calendars. For assistance, please send us your Calendars 5 purchase receipt at helpspot@readdle.com, and we'll review your details to find the best solution for you. Best wishes, Illia.

Greed rears its ugly head

Another good app that stands out from the rest, about to achieve a all to familiar standard of obscurity due to a soon to be “paid subscription” wall.
You do know that the public only has so much money for all those hundreds of subscriptions out there correct?
I guess this isn’t an app for the average individual any longer.
Best of luck in the ever widening paid subscription revenue bubble.

Change isn’t always good

Like another reviewer has said, losing basic features that I already paid for because of a forced migration isn’t right. I know I am still able to use Calendar 5… for now. But as you said, it is no longer supported and updates are no longer provided for it, therefore, it will eventually be impossible to use because of bigger software updates. The least you could do is keep those features free and then add more stuff for the pro version. I already paid for this and if I’m required to pay again, I will just look for an alternate app. it was great while it lasted.

At a glance

The main reason I use this calendar rather than the one that comes with my phone, is that I can see at a glance what is scheduled each day - whether it is in list format where I can scroll through the days, week or month. I can always see what I have on instead of having to open the app and then the day, to get an idea of what is on.

Calendar 5 removed?!

So you remove Calendar 5 app that I bought and then offer same app but just with subscription?!

Very sad to see it go

I’ve used this app for a very long time, I think when it first came available on Apple if I’m not mistaken. I’ve referred countless friends and coworkers since the beginning, I was so impressed. Not many changes were made from the Calendar 5, but I could be missing it. I’ve come to rely on this calendar for so many things, even though I use a paper planner as well, this is my everyday go-to for bills, tasks, and the calendar. No, I no longer have the “receipt” from the Apple App Store, I don’t even think purchases are available for that long ago. I’ve tried the Google and Apple calendars, which are not user friendly, and options are limited. I do understand that nothing is free, but having paid for it once and now you want a yearly subscription, this is something I can’t afford. Until I find a better solution, this will be my favorite, but I’m moving on.

UPDATE: I searched high and low for a receipt to no avail. I have been using this app for more than 12 years at least (although I’m going by the date I moved), but I know it’s been longer. For people who purchased the app long ago, keep us in the “old” version or at least offer it.

Hi, thank you for sharing this. Good news – you’ll still have access to Calendars 5 through your Apple account and can keep using it as usual. However, support and updates for the app will no longer be provided, and future iOS updates may affect its performance. Hope this helps!
