A joy to use

Of course, it’s still in early development, but I’m happy to deal with a few bugs here and there to support the project. It’s a beautiful app, and really easy to pick up and use. I love that it’s open source and it’s very reassuring knowing that only I have access to my notes.

My favorite notes app ever

I’ve tried so many, and this one is the best!

Awesome app

Open code, local first, very secure, no account needed to create a vault, very customizable, and you virtually have no storage limits because of the peer to peer syncing 6/5

This app is all I dreamt from notion

Databases for easy organization and access of notes? Privacy first and offline?? Constant updates and support? Sign me up!

Notion but Secure, always free, and best OPENSOIRCE

I always go opensoirce when possible. Broke
Up with notion and going steady with anytype has been amazing

The best

After looking far and wide for a good notetaking app, this is by far the best by many leagues. It is an incredible versatile useful app very much appreciate this.

Still in alpha, not even beta

Got excited and want to try out Anytype.

Tried to create an inline set inside a page but then stuck in “This inline set has no source” error forever. Can’t seem to find a way to specify source what so ever.

Background: program everyday using OOP, used Notion, Logseq, RoamResearch happily, understands all the technology involving relational database etc.

Neat app!

My only little complaint would be that the app doesn’t remember the last state of the accordions . If I collapse them, they are expanded once I re-launch the app. (Eg. i collapse the “Recently Edited” group, and it doesn’t remain collapsed after app restart). Please fix that! 🙏🏼

A few suggestions

One improvement I believe is essential is the ability to visualize data through pie charts, graphs, and similar tools. While having this feature built-in would be ideal, integration with existing tools would also be acceptable. This enhancement would significantly benefit functionalities like habit tracking by providing insightful data visualizations beyond just relational maps.

Another specific feature I find myself eagerly missing, and it might sound trivial to some, is the ability to use GIFs for background covers and icons, a feature I enjoyed in Notion and hoped to see in Anytype. Currently, there are a few limitations with GIF usage in Anytype:

1. GIF backgrounds and icons are not supported on mobile devices.
2. On the desktop version, GIFs can only be added through drag and drop; direct uploads are not possible.
3. Transparent GIF icons that overlap the cover do not work, and my attempts to use transparent PNGs were unsuccessful due to the required "background."

I acknowledge that these issues might seem minor, but addressing them could significantly enhance the app's appeal for me, encouraging a switch from Notion. The ability to customize pages with GIFs adds a unique and vibrant look to the user experience.

Additionally, it would be a nice touch to allow users to customize the mobile app's dashboard or homepage background, further personalizing the first screen seen upon opening the app.

Brilliant app; alternative to Notion

So much potential! For people who can’t get on with Notion or for people who want everything that Notion has but keep it local. You can’t go wrong.

Now how do I transfer my whole life from Notion to it??
