The update made the app (and the garden) worthless

One of the great features of the AeroGarden was the app integration that sent notifications to my phone or tablet when it was time to add food or water. Since the app “upgrade” these features no longer exist. I’ve run my garden empty so many times because I no longer get notifications. All the app does is send out solicitations to buy more AeroGardens. It’s truly worthless.

Unusable

The old app worked great. This new app does not even connect to my grow lights. Just says “unable to connect to the server”. I also tried pairing my lights again, and that did not work either (despite seeing them as options).

Why make a new app if it’s worse ? Will not be buying any more grow lights from them.

Great update! Portrait mode!

Unable to connect to the server. Please try again.

New: app worked fine this morning, but now tells me my password is wrong. (It hasn’t changed). Noticed there was an update so I installed that, but the problem remains.

Original: New app looks nice and functioned well for a few days but this evening all I see is a message that it can’t connect to “the server”. Why do I need to connect to a server to turn lights off and on?

This has been resolved in 2.0.2. The server allows us to send push notifications for issues/reminders and allows remote control when you are not near the device.

Needs Improvement

Overall there seems to be some miscommunication between the app and my Farms. I find myself needing to use buttons on the Farms to turn lights off or adjust settings- seems to defeat the purpose of having an app to control these things. Hopeful these bugs will get fixed because the previous app worked nicely and was helpful.

Not great

This app has numerous overlapping words. As far as I can see, you can’t lower or raise the lights on the farm xl. I have to keep logging in which is annoying.

Need old app back

New app can’t access my garden. I want my old app back. I don’t want to give my phone number for your data collection. Without creating a new account and logging in through your new app, my AeroGarden is useless. This app will be the reason why I never give another AeroGarden as a gift.

The new app is just an attempt to grab more user data.

Major improvement BUT

I found the updated app while starting a new garden and was happy to see a brand new interface. Also happy that I don’t have to hold my phone sideways to use the app! This version provides a lot more information than the old one did and generally seems nicer. Light/dark mode which I just noticed is a plus.

However, every time I tap the icon on the home screen, I am presented first with the screen from the old app and then it quickly switches to a screen with a download option. I have to tap that to move on. It sends me to the App Store, then I have to open the app. Those extra steps are annoying and that’s one reason I did not give the app a higher rating. But this version is definitely a big step in the right direction!

It sounds like you are using the old app icon instead of the new one. If you launch the new app directly it will not take these extra steps. If you need assistance with this please contact our support team and we will be happy to assist.
