Can we get an easy and quick way to delete all history and data? Maybe a “delete all” option is available soon as you press the 3 dots.

Stay tuned! 👀It’s basically a non-negotiable at this point, there really is no excuse to not give a built-in ad blocker on the app. Firefox Focus is open-source and does the job. uBlock Origin is an open-source extension that does the ad blocking for you, the Orion Browser app for IOS is able to support it. Its competition, Brave Browser, and by extension, the Brave Search Engine, is both open-source and has a built-in ad blocker. Since the DuckDuckGo App doesn’t also has this problem, I think it would benefit Startpage to consider finding a way to put in a built-in ad blocker on the Startpage App.

I’ve only been using Startpage for a couple of weeks now. So far I like it. Not obnoxious ads on the start page, just a clean look so you can get to searching!
So it’s great. I’ve tried other so called private browsers and some just don’t do what they claim. Startpage has so far. I can’t find any history on my phone of sites I’ve been trying o not that I’m hiding anything. Just testing and it works
Unfortunately if this app can be set to never remember history and automatically clear cache and website data I was unable to find the setting. If I want to clear everything, which I desire every time I use the browser, I must manually go into settings in two different places to do so.
This lack of ability to automatically clear all data on browser close or, if lacking that, to have a one touch clear ala Duckduckgo’s page burn, makes Startpage much less appealing for me. This is sad because I wanted this to become my primary browser.
So my rating is low strictly due to no built in ad blocker. Any self proclaimed privacy browser should have this. It seems to be the norm though. Just look at the DuckDuckGo browser. 😶
However, happy to see the option to block all third party cookies.
I’ll continue to use my usual browser of choice and check in on this from time to time. Perhaps they’ll break the mold. Time will tell.
As far as the search engine itself, Startpage is all I use. Unfortunately, Safari on iOS devices doesn’t have that option other than bookmarking the site.

Thanks for caring about privacy!So in all my years I've never actually written a review for an iPhone app before. This one made me stop and have to write.
After getting increasingly frustrated with the adoption of generative ai everywhere in search engines, including DuckDuckGo and Ecosia which had previously been reliable, I did a lot of digging and found Startpage as my one search engine that preserved privacy 100%. I've been using it now for a while in Firefox on desktop and loving it!
So imagine my surprise and wonder at discovering Startpage has a phone app that eliminates the need to run it in other browsers.
After putting the app through its paces checking some of the most ad-ridden sites I know of, while it may not 100% block all ads, it DOES completely block all popups which makes browsing even something as bogged down as the fandom wiki a breeze. It outperforms the Firefox mobile app in this respect.
It runs lightning fast, loads pages quickly, and has an easy to use interface. It also delivers search results that are FAR more accurate than Google without sponsored results shoved in first place.
Some might think it bare bones, but for me, sick of every company shoving features in my face that I don't want? This app is PERFECT.

We're so glad you are enjoying the app so far! Thanks for choosing Startpage and for caring about privacy.It is a very private app, but I have 2 problems with it:
1) I always prefer using the private browsing side of the browser, but there is no way to set it to open automatically in private mode.
2) The app has crashed on me twice in the short time I have been using it. And since I am in private browsing, there is no way for StartPage to restore the tabs. That is frustrating to say the least. I will go back to Firefox, which has been very reliable for me for years.
