Slow to use
The main way I use the iPhone app is as a library card. Which means at the checkout desk, I open the app, which takes a while to load, then tap on the menu, then tap on Borrower Barcode, which takes even longer to load. I wish I could swap the Scan shortcut on the home screen (which my library doesn’t use) with Borrower Barcode to make the whole process faster.

Frequently fails to connect to server
I love this app when it works.
Seems to be thrown out if I access via a link sent by my library.
I have to visit the library to reset.... not particularly convenient!

Could be great but no browse by genre
I love how easy it is to reserve books and the recommended books for you section so I can add stuff to my reading lists within this app. It’s great to be able to check if your library has the books you’re interested in reading without having to make the journey there. I just wish there was a browse by genre feature because if you’re not looking for anything specific then it’s really difficult to find books. If you type in a genre in the search then you end up with thousands and thousands of results with no way of filtering them

Unable to login
Seems very buggy. I tried logging into two libraries where I’m a member. I’ve checked my login on the library’s website and confirmed that it is correct. But when I tried to login on Spydus, I kept getting an error that I need to enter my login details, select a branch, etc. All of those were filled in. Unable to login = unable to use the app. 🤦🏻♂️

Card number
This app needs major work and improvements. I looked at my card number and even saved it to my phone and it says that my card number is wrong now I dont know if it’s my library that doesn’t support it but I am quite annoyed.
Perfectly functional
Really don't know what all the fuss is about regarding security? You don't have to select 'remember me' and even if you do, it's exactly the same as any other app that you log in with. If somebody else gets access to your device they can find out plenty of personal info if you haven't secured it properly in the first place. As for the app itself, as long as your library has subscribed you can use it to reserve & renew items as well as search and filter results. Most of the poor reviews are quite old and I would suggest ignoring them as the problems have most likely been fixed by now. Give it a try for yourself...it's free after all!

Very poor security
Totally agree with other comments regarding poor security of this app if you select remember me.
Civica does a lot of local government IT work and I am appalled they have not checked this app. It is also appalling that the library is quite happy to allow easy access to personal information that forms the basis of identity fraud.

Handy Format
This app is certainly easier to use on a phone than the website. It isn't as easy to use as the best apps but it gets the job done.
Having access to your account details is handy too ( I didn't know I had an outstanding fine!)
There is no facility to provide feedback to the developer so here is a bug:
- When you login you must enter your user ID or password using the keyboard otherwise the "Login button" doesn't activate. This is a problem if you use a password manager and want to paste in your password.
