Reviews of Canon PRINT

  • Connecting to iOS with WiFi Network w/ Password is Nightmare

Had to change WiFi Network name and password then go back and manually reconnect all 23 devices throughout home. Saved Canon TR8520 to last because it was a nightmare a year ago. Really need to print medical document so I was forced to try today. Easy connect means I am disconnected from the internet and ONLY connected to printer network, but not doable when apps require internet while working. So, went back to Canon video to try and remember how I set up a year ago. Keep getting to screen to find network, but hidden, so manually entered name. WHY won’t this thing bring up the page where I enter my WiFi’s password? An open network is NOT safe so I will always have hidden and with password. Took at least 3 days to do it before and now I cannot remember steps. Can someone from CANON please direct me to simple instructions for iPad Pro wireless and wired connection options with personal WiFi network that is hidden AND REQUIRE a Password to connect. Thanks. Somehow I got it to work before connecting printer to TMobile Home Internet Modem and every device connected to WiFi was able to print wirelessly print directly to printer (and STILL be connected to the internet).
  • Really Difficult

I spent 2 hours trying to figure this app out. Still haven’t gotten it to work. My printer came with over simplified directions. I guess the company is trying to save paper by not printing a full manual, which is ironic being a printer company. The website was really hard to use. I just thought in 2024 connectivity between a phone and printer should be a five minute process if that. I think the only person who could really understand how to get connected is the guy who made the printer and the app. Not surprising because have the stuff in this world we just use and don’t understand how a guy even figured out how to make it. Cars, planes, iPhone, soda. Anyway, I guess the guy who made it is like I put all the hours in building this, I’ll just let them figure it out. It wasn’t till I read a page of directions on the website after clicking through many links that I was able to print directly from my phone. The app just won’t connect. Maybe it’s because I bought the $50 printer from Canon. I bet if I spent the $200 on a different model it would connect to my phone without even getting it out of the box all the way. It’s the Man. This is how they get us. Suggestion to company , ask ChatGPT can you make a better app?
  • Major time wasted.

I’m really surprised to see all the good reviews. I have nothing but scorn for this app. I’ve had it for quite a few years and every time they do an update, the changes force me to try every which way to print. I just spent a total of 3 hours trying to print one page - a mailing label!
The mishmash of settings/instructions are ridiculous. If I try to print directly from phone to printer, it will only work occasionally. If I try to use my Wi-Fi through the router - good luck.
It is not intuitive. Different settings pop up from screens that had no explanation as to why printing could not be completed.
I accidentally set “photo paper” in the print page settings and the thing rebelled. I’ve actually used photo paper in the past, so WHATS THE PROBLEM NOW.
I will never buy this brand of printer again. I have other things I should be doing instead of TRYING to print something.
