  • Great use of the platform!

I loved Myst and Riven. This game heartens back to those classics in an ambiguous tale that provokes your imagination. I'm not sure what actually happened in the story, but the blend of digital short story and adventure game is expertly executed. It may be more of an experiment than a game, but the mood, pacing, and creativity makes this experience worth your while. This is a game that can't be played on anything but a mobile device. That's all you'll want to know! Go in as blind as you can and give it a try, as long as you don't mind a little reading.

  • Extraordinary and Unique

I adore this game and everything it has to offer. It is beautifully designed and the game mechanics are different from any I have ever seen without being impossible to understand. The story is disconcerting, eerie and very well written. When ever anyone asks me for a riddle/ puzzle game I point them to this. My only complaint is that I want moooooore. I love this game and could spend hours upon hours doing the things in this work of art and never get bored but there is nothing like it.

  • Fantastic and Mysterious, 10/10

Now I understand why this is tagged 'Essential'! Not only are the game's graphics beautiful, but it's narrative is mysterious and well written.

Here I was, at 11:00 PM one night and I stumble across this game, Device6. I think to myself "Oh, this looks like a fun game. But mystery puzzles usually are only playable once, then they dissolve into repetition". So I bought it, and began playing. Three hours later, I reawaken, realizing that I must replay it, and find out every detail of this game's lore. It's engaging, fascinating, and brilliantly well designed.

  • Unique and Immersive

I originally purchased this game shortly after it came out and have just recently played through again after being away for awhile. I still enjoyed it this time as much as the first play through.

Note that this is more of an interactive novel with a handful of puzzles rather than a game. The diehard FPS or RPG crowd might not appreciate it and find it tedious. This is not something to "speedrun" through. I find that it is a unique and immersive experience and therefore highly recommend it.

  • The best game I've ever played

I played this game and suddenly every other game I've played on my phone paled in comparison. This isn't even a game, it's like a story wrapped in a puzzle wrapped... i don't know. All I know is that I played this game and it made me feel like I was a part of something deeper? It's like, there's all these games that are mundane and don't do much and are pointless, and this felt like a splash of water on my face, something /real/, something more. 100% worth playing, I can't describe how incredible this was.

  • Best text adventure since Douglas Adams

I'm a big fan of text adventures and when it comes to iOS I'm no different. Lifeline was innovative; Device 6 transforms the genre into something new. It's very easy to imagine this virtual reality space going 3-D filled with puzzles in the not so distant future. Bravo to the writers for a gradually unfolding mystery. Bravo to the musicians involved for creating a very unique noir aesthetic. Like a fine wine I will be recommending this game as a milestone game in the genre.

  • I am ashamed.

Ashamed of rating other games five stars. That's literally how good of a game this is. As another reviewer said, it's absolutely perfect as a puzzler because it's just challenging enough for me to have to really think over the hints and clues given throughout the text and in the pictures and yes, even the audio, but not so difficult that I ever had to look up a walk through on the internet (you will NOT be able to progress without the audio, so don't purchase this game if you cannot listen to the audio for whatever reason.) The story is superb, and keeps the game from being JUST a puzzler. I love reading a good book, and I love puzzle games, and this game combines the two in such a nearly flawless manner that I can make no complaints (besides my ADHD keeping me from being able to process the significance of the different devices as they are introduced one at a time throughout the game/story). I've always loved coming back to a book and rereading it later and I believe that I will similarly love coming back to this book in the future.

As I said, in the future, I shall be MUCH more hesitant about giving a game a 5 star rating, because this game outshines others so much.

  • I have no regrets except one.

This game is still the all time favorite game of mine. It's an immersive experience in ways other games never even thought of. From your sight to your hearing, every sensation is a delight and further adds to the mysterious, bizarre and magical atmosphere of the game. I've been looking for another one like it and I regret to say I've yet to find its match :( Please make more like these!!!! I love reading and gaming and this is the perfect marriage of the two. For those who can't appreciate the beauty of what this game does... how reading is an imaginative act and how this game gives just enough to add a whole other dimension to your imagination is absolutely breathtaking. It's a bookworm's dream, really.

  • Genius game!

I loved this little masterpiece. It’s basically a narrative puzzle, where you read the text and figure out which buttons to push. Incredibly clever and quite difficult, but never to the point of being frustrating. I always managed to figure out what I was supposed to do without using online hints, which is the mark of a perfect game - neither too easy nor too hard.

The story has many twists and turns. Slowly, the “big reveal” dawns on you in the fourth or fifth chapter. I asked out loud, “Are they actually going THERE?” Yes, yes they are. And it works.

No complaints here. It was a great purchase. No replay value unless I get a concussion and lose my memories. Or unless I receive a creepy doll in the mail.

  • $4 for only 6 puzzles?

The developers of this app have mislabeled it. This was a novel with a minimal number of puzzles in it. The biggest "game" in the whole thing is the constant turning and twisting of your device to read the text. I found that particular feature to be especially gimmicky. The story line also leaves much to be desired. I'm a voracious reader, so I would have been okay with following the novella if it were actually interesting. I found this storyline to be rather lame, eventually just Googling the plot because the tedium of the app just wasn't worth the trouble. When I specifically shop for a GAME app, I want to actually PLAY stuff. Not read through some labyrinth of text for only one rudimentary puzzle and a "survey" at the end of each level. I essentially paid $4 for 6 puzzles and a bunch of reading. This should be marketed as an interactive novel, not a game app.
