  • Too much reading not enough fun

I've never reviewed an app before but I had to write this because it's just not worth the money. The graphics and sound are truly elegant and outstanding, the concept is interesting, but the game itself is trivial. I found myself skimming the text to get to the next interactive section- which are very few and far between- only to be underwhelmed again and again by how un-challenging the puzzles were. Played to the end hoping to feel like I got my four dollars worth... Which I did not. If you like a game that is 10% interactive gameplay and 90% reading scifi/suspense this is the $4 game for you!

  • I'm just speechless

I rate this 10 stars out of 5. By far the most incredible game I have ever seen. The visuals are superb and really make you feel like you are Sherlock Holmes. There is no doubt that you will enjoy this app. The app is mysterious and has a flawless backing track. I cannot tell you how absolutely exquisite this app is. It is beyond compare. However, there are some creepy visuals and noises so I do not recommend this app to people under 12, like the app states. It is worth every penny and you will definitely not be upset.

  • Just. Wow.

I have never loved a game as much as this one. I played this in a dark, quiet room with headphones in, and I felt so immersed in the story. Trying to wrap your brain around how all the pieces of the storyline fit, all while feeling like a freaking genius solving complex puzzles and admiring the creepy sounds, graphics, and story, is indescribably wonderful. I finished the game in a day, but I would have paid double the price for just half of this game. I'm still pondering this game as I'm sitting here staring at this waffle in front of me. Time to eat it. 😹

  • Incredible.

This app is really satisfying - it allows you to walk a line between player and observer, since you are at times reading a narrative in 3rd-person, and at other times you realize that person is you.

The UX is simple and engaging, and the graphic design is really a really great showcase of 60s sci-fi thriller themes. It's just an excellent experience. Huge thumbs up. Play with a friend. And when you're finished, download Year Walk.

  • A compelling and immersive game

Device 6 is an innovative concept in game play that is engaging and immersive. Oddly, I found myself sucked into the game much more than graphically intense games even though much of the game consists of text. The story line is odd and a little disturbing, much in the same vein as The Prisoner TV series of the 1960’s. The puzzles are interesting and of a reasonable difficulty. The design of the game is clever and sometimes brilliant. One small complaint is that the game isn’t very long, but that is a minor issue. I hope there will be a sequel.

  • What????????

Okay, I'll give this 3 stars, which is 3 stars more than I enjoyed it. As far as its originality, brassy classiness, and outside-the-box creativity, which probably deserves a serious high star indie rating, I just can't. Not for me. Having to turn my device around - and around - and around - while reading text = irritation I'm not willing to endure. I'm disappointed to find only 5 star reviews, which largely persuaded me to give this game a go. Someone out there, like me, may wish to know this game's purposely quirky, but to what end, I don't understand. Hope this review is allowed to stand. Good luck with finding your fan base... it seems it's out there.

  • Best text based game I've ever played.

This is the greatest game Ive seen in a time time. It is so elaborate, beautiful, and was very well put together and thought out. It runs so smoothly. I love that you have to turn your phone with the text, and I love the music and sounds. The surveys in between each level and clever one you realize what they are for. The ending is so phenomenal. I would recommend this to anyone.

  • Story telling done right

I loved this. It was nice to feel like I was playing something bigger than just a game. Well written, just enough uneasy spookiness and the right amount of secrecy to keep me entertained for the duration of play time. Probably will come back and play through again after some weeks have passed to forget details. In the meantime I'll get all my friends to play.

  • Still the best iPhone game I've ever played

It's been quite a while since I finished Device 6, and I've tried every game reddit's claimed is similar, but nothing's come close to this...except maybe the dev's other games; Year Walk is also amazing (I drew maps! I downloaded software to better render my maps!), and Sailor's Dream makes the phrase 'hauntingly beautiful' ashamed that it's ever been used to describe anything else (and the soundtrack is 60% of my 'Creepy sleepy music for bedtime' playlist). Still, really, _this_ game is...you know that feeling when you're like suffocating because everything is always mundane and profane, and all you want is something strange and glorious and terrible like Rilke and not like updating spreadsheets or acid reflux? Like you just want to feel like Christmas lights or the moon or the top of a mountain? This game is that. It's air. I like super like it.

  • Unusual

This is not like any game I have played before. It's basically an interactive book. It is very well done and very imaginative and absorbing. The puzzles are basically a way to advance to the next chapter, where equal weight is placed on the reading and observations plus the challenge of figuring out the puzzles. It's long enough, but I wish it was longer.
This is the second game I have played by this developer (I played Year Walk), and maybe I am more sensitive to a 1st-person experience where things get unpleasant. As with the other game, I found this one a bit disturbing too. It is a good game, so I would recommend it if my previous comment doesn't bother you. I guess I have learned my lesson and probably should stop downloading any more games by this developer! :/
