We opened a bar/restaurant earlier in 2024 and utilized Toast Tables FOH and BOH until recently. OpenTable was the obvious choice, given how prolific it is, the number of users on the customer app and the built in marketing it affords a venue when those users haven’t made up their mind where they want to eat.
That said, OT needs to take several pages out of the ToastTab playbook. The user interface in OpenTable for owners is incredibly clumsy, has tiny print that is impossible to read on a phone, and glitchy to no end. How can a company with so much market share be so behind on its GUI?!
By the looks of it, ToastTables is constantly coming up with new features, and, in this owner’s view, it won’t be long before TT provides a guest platform to rival OT. When it does, bye bye OT, as Toast’s back end is excellent for small businesses.
Disclaimer: I am in no way a paid reviewer and have nothing to gain from the above comments, except to vent my extreme frustration with OT’s onboarding during the first week of implementation and data migration.
