Best Chinese app hands down.
This app is brilliant it has absolutely everything you need if youβre a beginner or higher level, you can switch between traditional and simplified, have dual pinyin and hanzi side by side or delete the pinyin to really learn the characters. Not a huge fan of the stroke writing on a tablet screen but itβs a great intro to the correct order for writing. Highly recommended.

Fun introduction to mandarin!
The structure of the application makes for a (fun) rapid introduction to mandarin!
The application mixes speaking, listening, vocabulary, writing together in a consistent way with a simple unobtrusive interface. Most concepts are taught step by step with exercises, which are complimented by clear (and pleasingly simple) disambiguations.
The graphic iconography really helps vocabulary building and recognition without long lists.
Well done to the application producers!

Great app, small suggestion
Overall this is a great app that is engaging and tests out the many facets it really takes to learn another language. I like how sometimes I have visuals (whether thatβs a picture flashcard or a Chinese character), fill in the blank to practice listening skills, the ability to click on a word and character combination for vocabulary recall (I really like how the characters and pinyin are side by side θ°’θ°’/xie xie), etc.
The suggestions I have are minor but I think would be very helpful. When you get an answer RIGHT I wish it would show the whole sentence in Chinese (and its pinyin) AND correct English translation. It would also be great if you could still get an opportunity to HEAR the sentence AFTER you have answered (whether you got it right or wrong) so that it can help you learn it more because itβs great to be able to hear and read the answer over again (whether right or wrong).
Another cool thing would be if you could incentivize the app so that it is even more like a game. Most people like mini challenges and earning things. DuoLingo already has something similar to this. Maybe you can earn a wrong answer back if you get three right in a row. Or after doing a set number of lessons (or minutes spent using the app maybe per day) you could win different pandas, ε οΌfake), or a dragon.
Anyway, those are just a couple of things that I thought would maybe help make this great app even better. θ°’θ°’δ½ δ»¬γεθ§πγ

Excellent Revision
I used this app some time ago. Coming back to this current revision, I observe that is is substantially improved. The learning method is much better (for me at least) and the tests reinforce the characters and sentences.
One bug: there seems to be insufficient time in some of the review exercises for the recorded voice to complete the sentence before moving on to the next slide.

Best Chinese-learning app I've found
This is the only app that I've been happy and satisfied to practice Chinese on! There is consistency in the lessons, you are allowed to skip the character writing if you're more interested in communication than actual literacy, and you can ALWAYS go back and review things that you've already learned in a multitude of ways. With every lesson you build more, so unlike many other apps, you don't just "tick off" learning something and then never practice it again so you forget. There's also games and immersion lessons. I haven't even been able to use every facet of the app yet, but I know I will continue using this for a long time! Thank you for making a great app--and for free!

Needs update for IPhone X
The app for the most part still works on the iPhone X but unfortunately some parts of the screen get cutoff making it difficult to actually complete various sections. Mainly due to the face that the cut of sections often will hide sentences or cut out some buttons.
Donβt get me wrong this app when I used it on my old phone was perfect and actually helped me to learn basic phrases. It did the job better than any of the other apps that I tried.

A very well designed app, and actually free.
This is a really well designed language learning app, and benefits from being designed from the outset for Chinese, rather than being modified from a Roman language app.
You hear, learn to write strokes, use hanyu pinyin (which is essential for typing in Chinese) and generally engage different learning skills. I love this app.
Itβs easy to spend my 20 minutes per day on the app. I am looking forward to surprising my colleagues next time I visit Beijing

A bit buggy
Tried to sync my progress from my old device to my new with my account, but didn't work. Also the app's interface and response is laggy and slow, unlike how all my other apps perform on my new device. Please fix as I love the content and exercises. Thanks
Even better than Duolingo
I'm a big fan of the simple format of this app. One of my most hated things in life is programs that confuse the user. This app goes above and beyond to ensure you do not get confused. The best example of this is the clear and concise wording of their lesson notes. Many teachers and professors have a problem of over-complicating material for students by using confusing or unorthodox wording.
The developers really go out of their way to ensure your pronunciation is correct. I highly recommend saying words out loud (when noones around, of course) because the trick to learning this language seems to be the difficult pronunciations.
Last bit of advice: make sure you download the Pinyin keyboard for your iPhone before starting a lesson. Pinyin is basically Chinese in Latin characters.

AMAZING!!
Wow, words cannot simply express how I am feeling! I am a beginner at Chinese, I have come across some apps but none as good as this. Other apps taught me how to say and pronounce the words which is great and all but I never knew how to write or the characters, which this app does. I am even extremely happy and blessed that the app is 100% free including all of its contents. I look forward to learning more and even more motivated, thank you very much for creating this app, for those reading this review I highly recommend it.
