Good hardware worst app ever

The hardware is good quality but the app is the worst I have ever seen. It looks like a 1990’s website, very slow, not very intuitive at all. Takes minutes from clicking to the device turning on and it’s not a problem on my connectivity!

Very disappointed.
They could at least release the API’s so the community could make a better app. It’s not that hard guys! Do better!

This product it horrible to install and the companies support is even worse. If there was a 0 star rating, they would be getting it. It’s not user friendly and the instructions are incredibly unclear. I tried to contact their support and none of the listed numbers are connected, I tried to speak to one of their representatives via chat support and there was no one online. I am a licensed electrician and deal with a lot of pools on high end builds. I will never recommend this product to a client.

Terrible

Very basic app - which really is not up to scratch given the very high price of the internet gateway which cost over $800. I have Astral Chlorinator and Pump and you can only switch the pump on/off/auto - no way to set chlorinator level or pump timers with the app. Frequently disconnects and very laggy / lots of spinning wheel waiting time. Why doesn’t astral build a new app with API capabilities so you can integrate with IFTTT or Alexa/Google like other modern home automation systems???

Really disappointing

For a company that sells such pricey pool equipment you’d think they spend more money on a real app - not just scraping their own website tool and pretending it’s an actual app.

The app presents only a subset of the controls available on the main unit - you can’t create or edit favourites or adjust the chlorinator from the app as just some examples.

It’s user interface is like a high school HTML project from 2003. Plus it’s slow and unreliable - you click buttons and then icons spin for sometimes minutes and then you find out the setting you wanted didn’t make it to the equipment and so you have to try again.

If you want to control your pool completely via an app and never have to go out to your dirty dusty cobwebby pool equipment, then this app and the equipment that works with it are not for you.

So frustrating and not intuitive

So buggy and frustrating. Hasn’t been updated in years.

Terrible. Drop outs and very slow.

Not sure if the company really cares about it customer base as there have been endless negative reviews going back years and NOTHING has been done to rectify the issues. All of my negative experience is mainly in regards to how pathetically slow the gateway is and how often it drops out. I could live with the poorly designed interface if the system actually works. It doesn’t.

App is dated and needs updating

Really disappointing app. We have been pretty patient waiting for a full update (improved ux etc) for over 3 years but nothing has been forthcoming. A big investment in the equipment that the app integrates with but not supported by a modern app experience is very disappointing.

If other options on the market I would go with them - that’s what I tell everyone that ask anyway. Not good business sense Astral.

A 90’s app for the year near 2020. Needs update

You need to scroll though every pump setting and wait until it loads rather than have the button available that you want. Every feature button option is the same and very frustrating . Such a simple fix. Needs an update as it keeps lagging.

Think about using an alternate pool equipment provider

This is an update to my review posted a couple of years ago. While the app was somewhat functional a couple of years back it has begun to reach being near unusable. For instance it can take minutes from clicking an action on the app to when it will actually turn the relevant pool equipment on. It may not sound like a big problem but it can lead to pool equipment damage. For instance, the pool heater was on but needed to turn the pump on. Turned the pump on via the app but it took almost 5 minutes after clicking the icon before the pump started. This meant that the heater was on but no water flowing which can cause significant problems for the heater. That’s just one example and there are several more. I’d suggest that if there are alternate pool equipment providers with app functionality that you consider looking at those first as given the lack of updates by Astral to date I think the Connect 10 system has been left to wither and die on the vine to coin a phrase.

Bad UI, slow

Is not really an app, but the web interface posing as an app.

Not a good user experience.
-Have to login each time, luckily it can remember details, but still
-home screen is a stupid local weather page, rather than the controls I want
-response time to unit is a little slow
-controls are broken up
Across so many screens...seems unnecessarily complex menus and screens

No push notifications...like when I turn on spa, be great to know when it hit temperature with a notification on
My phone, and maybe some others if there is an issue.
