Version History of Optical Dispensing Assistant 2

1.60

September 26, 2024

This version adds support for the LIDAR sensor in newer iPad Pro models. What does that mean? It means the iPad can itself measure how far away something is, meaning you no longer need to use the labels on side views to get an accurate vertex distance. It is also used on front and near view measurements to calculate distance. If you find your measurements are inaccurate with the LIDAR sensor, you can turn it off in the Information and Settings panel. Also: The layout lines have been moved on the camera screen for improved vertical measurement accuracy. Removed the option to pay for the app "per measurement" as that created a sub-optimal experience when using the app.

New features: - An iCloud upload/download icon will appear on the top toolbar when iCloud data is uploading or downloading. - Added a "delete unused images" option to the delete image button. - Added new auto options for taking photos: single auto capture and multiple auto capture (single just takes a photo as soon as lined up, then waits for another photo; multiple takes 5 photos then closes). Some more bug fixes in this version: - Progressive lens overlay on left eye was offset in the wrong direction. - Photo jumped to new location if tapping fine movement button when the controls were hidden, putting the markers in the wrong location. - Fixed marker forever moving to the right in certain circumstances. - Old markers remaining on screen when Reset tapped. - Camera buttons on collection view would work even if no job active. - Other bugs, including a couple that may have caused the app to crash. Also there's been lots of behind-the-scenes changes to make sure the app will continue to work into the future. This included a complete rewrite of the photo capturing code. Please let me know if you find any bugs. We have been testing here for a few months without problems.

Old images weren't being deleted correctly, which could fill up your iCloud and iPad storage over time. This update properly deletes the old images that were left behind, and fixes the bug that made it happen in the first place. Remember you can also bulk-delete old jobs by tapping "edit" then "purge" on the jobs list. By default, jobs older than 30 days are deleted, but you can change that in the settings window.

Description of Optical Dispensing Assistant 2

Optical Dispensing Assistant 2 for the iPad takes your progressive lens measurements to a new level of accuracy. Measure your client's pupil positions in multiple postures (sitting, standing, reading) to find the most accurate monocular PDs. No longer will you have to rely on marking dots on lenses! Not interested in those large, expensive measurement devices provided by the large laboratories? Then Optical Dispensing Assistant 2 is for you. It uses an iPad and NOTHING ELSE to provide hyper-accurate measurements. That's space and cost savings to your business. Not interested in having to buy an expensive iPad Pro? ODA 2 works with ANY iPad (although an iPad Pro is recommended). You can also use Optical Dispensing Assistant 2 as an electronic mirror to aid clients in choosing their frames. Each job allows you to record multiple images using the iPad's camera. Use it as a brilliant marketing tool so your client can email their friends to show them their great new glasses, or take a printed copy home to show family. Using the gyroscope, accelerometer and LIDAR (if available) of the iPad to ensure accurate alignment, the iPad camera is used to take an image of the patient wearing the chosen frame. The touch-screen of the iPad is then used to mark the pupil and frame locations to provide the progressive lens height measurements. To measure monocular PDs, the iPad is held like a book and an image of the patient looking at near is used to determine individual eye convergence when reading. If your iPad has a LIDAR scanner (newer iPad Pro models), then this will be used to improve the accuracy of your measurements. Pantoscopic tilt and vertex distance can also be measured using images taken from the side. Frame wrap can also be measured allowing you to have all the information you need for advanced progressive lenses. Optical Dispensing Assistant uses specific knowledge of the iPad cameras to ensure near PDs are accurately calculated. All iPads (apart from the original iPad 1 without camera) are supported. Forget dotting lenses and relying on positioning yourself correctly. The Optical Dispensing Assistant 2 ensures you have the iPad correctly positioned and aligned to maximise the accuracy of your progressive lens measurements. Other features: - Unlimited images can be taken for each job. - Results from multiple images are combined to produce a single result. - Near measurements allow more accurate determination of unequal monocular PDs. - Final results are a combination of near and distance measurements (near measurements are used for inset, distance measurements for OC heights). - Printing and emailing of job results. - Automatic face and eye detection allows automatic zooming to the face when marking up. - Zoom and scroll while marking tools are on screen. - High-wrap frames supported. - Ability to measure frames tilted from horizontal. Subscriptions renew automatically, at an interval you select (one month, six months or yearly). Payment will be charged to your iTunes account immediately once you commit to the purchase, and will renew automatically at the end of each period. I downloaded this app a week ago and have been using it in conjunction with my hand measurements and I have found a significant difference between both readings. The app seems to be very inaccurate and was hoping whether there was a way to overcome this issue.
I would appreciate if the developers could shed some light on this.
