Ooops!
How did this tool become so unhelpful? Scheduling your appointment online is not helpful when your only choice is a video visit that is 3 months away. In person appointments aren’t even available as far as MyChart knows. There’s no way to talk to anyone anymore because calls get placed on hold and then often don’t ever get answered. Are there so few people working now and are the schedulers actually in the doctors’ offices or is it a central call center? Getting a scheduling ticket in October, to set up an appointment in April, I didn’t try to schedule it until December. The first available appointment offered was at the end of July. Is the system back firing through this method? Smart action is to book 6 months in advance and fill up all the first six months of appointments. It used to be that only a few months were available to schedule at a time. This isn’t working. MyChart has a lot of limitations. If you are scheduling with a new doctor, they won’t be listed as a provider, so you can’t message their office to get help with the appointment. If you don’t have the time to be on hold for long periods of time, then you are stuck. I think they wanted to design this to be very interactive, but honestly, the system is so bad, that MyChart can’t make it work better. I waited 10 weeks for an MRI to look for a cracked vertebra. Tell me why this is routine. Too late to treat it after 4 weeks. That’s the system.
