My friend just bought one of these grills and we could not wait to check it out. Set up was pretty simple and customer service was quick to pick up the phone when ever we had a question. I was amazed at how quickly I was able to produce good smoked meats with little effort on my end. I would definitely think about going this route next time you buy a smoker.

The only way to grill
Green mountain grill have the feature I love that all the grills I had before didn't. It can connect to Wi-Fi I can turn it on and off through my phone control the temperature while working in the kitchen without having to run outside and mess with the grill manually this feature has change my greeting experience entirely love you guys for doing that thank you!!

Good in theory
I keep getting kicked off server mode. Then I have to leave server, connect to wifi, connect to grill, then join server again. Works on and off. Did everything support said. Still disconnects. Brand new wifi board and Grill is 6 feet from wifi btw. App also seems unfinished. Cant turn it on from work so it's hot when I get home to immediately start grilling. Cant toggle between point to point mode and wifi mode. Can't see what newest firmware is without updating and downloading to grill. Takes a while. Should alert that I already have the latest version first. Profiles could be good and are definitely the best part of the wifi feature. ***Update***

WORSE YET, it does not background refresh. Only when I actually OPEN the app does it tell me that I have "reached target temp". This could take forever, really forever, if I don't actually open the app. Please fix. All permissions open for this app. It's a bug.

Hi Ohwell, we don't allow starting remotely because it is a fire hazard to start the grill without physically confirming it is safe. It is required by the insurance company. We do not show a list of available firmware because we are offline in PtoP mode. You can view the latest firmware at www.greenmountaingrills.com/firmware-changelog. If you are in Server Mode, you should get a push notification to alert you when the grill is up to temperature, it sounds to me that you are using WiFi mode and not Server Mode. Please review our guides online.
Upgraded the Grill to WiFi
My controller card on my Davy Crockett went bad, the replacement has the WiFi. I did not buy mine with it 3 years ago as the WiFi was just coming out and I thought I'd never use it. P-to-p worked right off but had issues with the home network. I work from home and my network is extremely locked down. I log a lot of attacks at the modem level and the firewall/router level. My problem was I forgot I used upper and lowercase character in my wireless network names. The GMG app needed it to match exactly and I wasn't putting it in correctly. Have not gotten the server mode to work yet, I need to punch a hole in the firewall to let it go out. Not sure what port they use but will do it if I really need it. Works great camping, beach, parks on the p-to-p.

Worked twice and has never worked since
Grill is great and wifi concept is great but bottom line, save the $150 bucks and buy wood pellets instead of wasting your money on their over marketed wifi concept - it just doesn't work.
Update - the client service was great - they sent me a new transmitter for me to use my app - still doesn't work. Logs on and says happy grilling - gets me excited and then...loses the connection. Useless - again, save the money and buy more pellets as the grill, sans the Internet gimmick, is great.

Best update yet
Originally experienced some problems with iOS and my Daniel Boone. But the GMG team has been working hard, and each update is getting closer to perfection. New server mode means you can check your temps anywhere! Well done GMG!
Updates are improving stability!
Update: I'm not using wifi yet just because I haven't tested it again before a big cook. But point to point connectivity is greatly improved! Well done guys! The app no longer crashes anymore either when using profiles. Profile creation is still a bit flakey, sometimes when I create a new one my changes to pit temp, food temp or time don't update when I enter them into the profile. The interface for setting temp is no good go back to the temp dial like earlier the slider is hard to work and clumsy. Improving every time though! Updates are coming much more regularly too which is nice to see! Thanks!
Update: connectivity is still flakey but it is improving. The app still crashes randomly multiple times during a long cook which required reopening the app, connecting again and waiting for the app to pull down the grill information and profile data before you can do anything. Still no where near as stable as the original app which I have 5/5 but all it was missing was the home wifi connectivity. You need to bring the stability back! Running a iPhone 6 with iOS 8.4

Wifi connectivity is useless, the app disconnects when you close it and tries to connect again but always fails. Then if you're lucky the app will find the BBQ again after resetting everything. UI is much cleaner though but functionally much much worse.
