Good app mired by some bugs
Update: The issue I was having was a result of misunderstanding the user interface.
Still it’s well worthwhile for anyone enjoying Hue lighting and wants to have even more fun with their setup.

Hi Essense. The app itself is designed to work exactly as you expect. Here’s the “trick”: on the Groups screen tap the *name* of the group you wish to control (rather than the switch). This selects the group to control. Let us know if this clears things up for you! (We’ll work on clarifying this interface.)
After 2 years paid, I’m deleting it
New review: Updated the app and it works again while the app is not open. Love this app for holidays. Old review: Used to work great but now it only works when the app is active. When the phone locks or switches a apps it stops.

(Update) THIS APP WILL COMPLETELY WIPE YOUR ENTIRE HUE APP FOR YOUR HOME!!! ALL LIGHTS CONNECTED. ALL SCENES. ALL CUSTOM SETTINGS. DO NOT DOWNLOAD I’ve had this app for years and it’s been an ongoing issue with this app. It seems incredible, until it erases everything for the 12th time and you need to completely reinstall everything on your hue app. MASSIVE ISSUE!!!! ———————— I love the dynamic scenes in this app so much, but there’s a glitch in the app… whenever I use the app it completely wipes my Hue lights. I need to reload then all, organize them, set every one of my scenes again, reset my remote, etc…. It’s a HUGE issue and pain to do each time. Because of this (no matter how much I love this app) I can’t use it. I paid for a year and I need to delete this app.

Yes, this is a problem with LIFX bulbs only at the moment. Not with Hue. We understand how frustrating this is. Our app hasn’t changed and this used to work perfectly. It’s likely related to an iOS update breaking LIFX’s software development kit or a LIFX firmware update. We are working on a fix.
