  • USB C lighting adapter will not work!

    If you purchased the Gen 3 don’t dare upgrade your phone and expect an adapter to work. I have tried 5 different adapters and the device will not work. Way to keep up with the tech world FLIR. Why can’t you provide an adapter that will work with IOS 15 phones?Your research and development team is lacking in a big way!

    And the only answer I will receive is you can purchase the Pro. Why would I do that, when I have a device that should be compatible with newer phones! Total waste of hard earned money. Do better!

  • Unnecessary Security Permissions - No data minimization principles

    Similar to other reviewers, the main issue I have with this app is for its need of Full Photos permissions to even function (ie to take videos or photos and save them). In fact the entire facility is disabled (not even storing videos in the apps own working folder) if users album full access is not granted. This constitutes a violation of Data Minimization Principles from any Privacy frameworks, including GDPR. Further holding hostage functionality until extraordinary access unnecessary is granted is breach of responsible and ethical programming.
    Overall the concept of the facility that this app seeks to provide is very beneficial. However this benefit is reflected in its prices which the owners pay to purchase the hardware. Of them the necessary and accompanying software is arbitrarily restricted or even functionality hidden behind a paywall, it diminishes the ownership gained by paying the high cost of the initial hardware purchase.

    Before jumping on the subscription bandwagon, this device manufacturer should consider the total cost of ownership complete with content versus what os available is just paying the hardware and only granting necessary permissions. TCO inclusive of the the in app purchases, the hardware purchase, and the granting of security permissions which effectively is unbounded in price yields a product that has just out priced itself from carrying the above mentioned utility of the concept of this device.

    Limiting the tco to just the hardware, and not granting permissions and refraining from in app purchases, yields a product that can only perform real time scans (can’t save video and can’t access reference materials of how- to’s). — again a yielding price point which is not market capable.

    Beyond these considerations, an element of the app which is a source of frustration is the constant “recalibrating” that it performs practically every few seconds (probably 2x / minute). Additionally a scale which constantly changes with each recalibration prevents a single session to have a concept of what min and max the scale even represents. Granted temperatures can sway significantly , there should be an absolute scale and perhaps calibration brings into focus a subsection of the static scale that is applicable to the current viewfinder contents versus changing the scale each time.

  • Invasive since update.

    This app is slow and janky for connection and stability. But if I even over look that. The most recent update has caused me to be forced to allow the app full access to my phones photos, when limited access is an option within settings. There is no reason this app needs full access to photos on a person’s, especially when it previously worked just fine with limited access. FLIR, Do BETTER!! Your big enough for government contracts you can surely hire a 14 yr old to make a decent app to Bluetooth your data across from a camera!!!

  • not for iPad

    The App works okay with my Apple SE phone (2020 model), but It will not work with my 11" Pro iPad. The Camera flashes green, to show the connection, but that is all. I'm using a lightning to USB Type C adapter, which I know works as it allows me to connect my iPhone and iPad to my Windows laptop to upload and download photos.

  • Useful and functional

    It was very easy to connect to my FLIR One Edge Pro, but sometimes the Wi-Fi fails to connect or drops out which is frustrating. The app makes it easy to precisely measure hot and cold extremes (which I use to monitor my lizard enclosure) and relative temperature gradients (for home maintenance such as finding leaks and poor installation). I’ve found the absolute temperature measurements to be fairly accurate.

    I did not purchase this intending to advertise FLIR… why is there no way to turn the watermarks off?

  • Good App, but horrible battery life

    Title says it all. Very disappointed with battery life- barely 30 min that you can count on. I’ve had my FLIR ONE fora few years now, but battery didn’t last long even when it was new. I had very favorable professional experience many years ago with higher end products, like Star SAFIRE, so I found this product disappointing.

    The app itself is quite satisfactory for use with a smartphone IR sensor.

  • I was scammed

    I thought it would just let you instantly use it but no. It turns out you actually need to stupidly pay for a 500$ device to use the heat sensor. So far this was the worst app I ever came across.
