Great Support
This app has worked flawlessly until encountering an issue with crashes when using iOS 18.1 beta 3. Apps crashing when using a beta OS is a risk that comes with using pre-production software, so isn’t a reflection on the app. Having sent the crash dumps to the developer I was very happy to find the issue had been addressed in the following update and it’s worked properly with the following iOS 18.1 beta release.

I have been using Strongbox for over a year now with no problems. Also their support is excellent.

Still great, always great. I’ve been using Strongbox for several years and wouldn’t be without it.
I keep hundreds of passwords for myself, clients (who keep them on paper or never write them down because they’ll remember), agencies I volunteer with, family, and so on.
Great interface, kept up to date, Open Source!!!!!!
Using kdbx format allows me to access passwords across all devices and OS.

Best open option
This app is my go-to password app, even with Passwords from Apple now available. I’ve used the competitive products, too, spent weeks looking at and reviewing alternatives, and what stands out for Strongbox is the cross-platform and cross-product support with very fair pricing. By using a standard database format, I can see my passwords and other protected data on every platform I have to use it on, even though I may use different apps (e.g., KeePass or KeePassXC) on others. I regularly use features like iCloud sharing, TOTP passwords, expiration dates, hardware keys, key files, virtual keys, secure notes, and more. The developer is incredibly responsive, even keeping the program updated during a new OS beta. For example, a change in Apple’s iPadOS and iOS in the most recent beta last Monday caused the apps to crash, and Mark had it fixed and pushed out through the App Store by the weekend. This is such a welcome change from so many other small (or even large) developers who wash their hands of betas and then take weeks after a new product update is rolled out before releasing a fix. If you’re looking for a good password app that doesn’t lock you in and has a responsive developer, you’d be hard pressed to do better.

Excellent app and support
I switched to using KeePass after a security problem with my previous password manager. Strongbox gives you all the convenience features of the Mac/iOS platform - Face ID, autofill, passkey support, syncing etc. It’s a slick UX, and a joy to use. Not easy for something like a password manager.
I’ve never had any problems with it but have had a couple of enquiries which I’ve emailed about and had prompt and helpful answers.

I am using this app already for few years. Well designed, has lots of nice features, easy to use, runs smoothly on my phone and computer. Also need to mention that the technical support is very good, friendly and helpful.

Every few years I have had problems transferring the database to a new device within a Famly Sharing circle. The personal help and support to resolve issues is nothing short of phenomenal.

Perfect
Was looking for a keepass replacement on ios and this fitted the bill. Having used it for awhile now I am super impressed, very intuitive and nicely laid out, it has so many features and settings to tune it how you wish. Particularly like the ability to generate passwords, names and phrases without signing in, not many managers have this. When I can, I intend to purchase, developers like this should be rewarded.

I have been using Strongbox on my iPhone and iPad with a synchronized local Syncthing database. 0 issues so far. Even though I use the Built-In Files app function which is not recommended by Strongbox, it works flawlessly like any other Strongbox features I have used.
At the time of this review, without Virtual Hardware Key, you have to use a Lightning security key with Lightning to USB-C adapter if you want to access a database protected by security key on an iPad. Strongbox has a unique Virtual Hardware Key feature they just added recently that will help you with this. The Hardware Key Caching feature is also neat if your database is set up with Security Key (which every Keepass database should!).
The support from the dev team is also very good when I have any questions regarding the features of the app. They are responsive within 24 hours and answered my questions in details.
I have zero complaints overall and highly recommend Strongbox as your Keepass app of choice (although Keepassium is also a good app, they lack some crucial features like merging database conflict and recently, Virtual Hardware Key!).
