  • Fix the app PLEASE!!!!

Having used this app for some time now & having been a subscriber, ie one of those that pays to make sure that funds are available to the developer to continue to keep it up to date why of why when I’m accessing content do I keep getting the “become a subscriber or restore your subscription” message, I’ve even hit restore a number of times, relaunched the app as requested…..updated the app even and all I get is the same bloody message & it still won’t let me access the info. Fix it or lose subscribers & users. This used to be a good reliable app, essential when up against it to build your casefile when a charge is being sought. At the moment it’s an eminently deleteable app…………

Hi Nicjac, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. Apologies for the delay in responding, we do not monitor reviews on a regular basis and rely on users to report issues directly with us via email or X app. We offer support 365 days a year and are happy to help. Since your review, there have been many app updates resolving reported user issues. If you have any content suggestions then drop us a message and we hope that you are able to enjoy using Pocket Sergeant again.
  • Subscription should not be reminded each time you log in

Decent app but each time you open it, it continually asks for a subscription. If users want to subscription for 99p then they will. Being bombarded constantly isn't the way to "sell" an app. You can argue about updated legislation etc etc and keeping app updated however that shouldn't mean I have to keep seeing a reminder to subscribe. I've already paid £4 for it. Either make it a subscription app or a direct one-time payment app

    Developer Response

We hear you and we will take a look at this. We have added a new “What’s New” pop up button and added new / updated labels on crimes in the newest app update. Whilst users pay initially for the app, they receive up to date content on the day of download. However, when content is updated, it is imperative users are aware a subscription is required to keep legislation up to date. This is important in regards to their decision making. We will however, take on board all of your feedback. We hope despite the subscription prompts, you’re enjoy using the app and find it useful.
  • Since the last update it’s been awful so have cancelled the subscription

This used to be a great app when it was free it never seemed to fail since I’ve paid subscriptions it worked fine for a while now it seems to have got worse. I’ve updated it, reset the phone and running the latest software and no matter how much I tweak the search field doesn’t return any responses. I have had some contact with the app developer to try and resolve but it hasn’t worked.

Shame as it was a good app and worked well in my job where I need to review various acts and sections

I have cancelled my subscription as Ive been paying 99p for that last 6 months and it shows no signs of getting better it’s not much 99p but it soon adds up.

I hope they will sort this as something somewhere has glitched and gone seriously wrong.

  • Shame...

A real shame. A very useful and user friendly app has been spoiled.
Constant requests for subscription, which I will not do having bought a 'paid for' app. Since these requests started, the app crashed whenever you type a single letter into the search bar. Extremely frustrating and renders the app all but useless.

**update** As per above review really...
Still had no updates due to not paying and the bugs are of course are still there.. I have looked at the developers responses to other criticisms of the subscription costs, but sadly, although I sympathise, I don’t believe it makes it right. When you choose to create an app with what clearly has a relatively limited target market, you have to consider that at some point ‘new’ users paying enough to fund development will dry up. Having paid for the app when there was no mention of a monthly fee, it really is a case of moving the goal posts. If new terms were created including monthly fees and new folk bought it, then use that as the source of income, but changing the cost after taking the initial payment under a different set of terms is unfair.

If the developer joined the job under the old pension scheme, I do hope that he/she is happily accepting that he/she is now on the new pension scheme and will NOT be claiming for what they previously paid in to and will accept what they are given because ‘needs must’...

  • Good app but...

...every time I load the app, it wants me to sign into itunes then it wants me to subscribe. I then have to say I want to subscribe for it to give me a pop up thats says I have subscribed. Its really frustrating as often when using this I am in a ‘dynamic’ situation! The other frustrating thing is that before you can use the app it makes you update it (in app not app store). Some CJ codes are missing. Other than that this app is cracking and I feel its worth the 99p a month. If I was a probationer then more so. Even as a 10 yr skipper I cant know everything😀

  • Re-review

I’ve downloaded this some time ago, prior to the subscription!
The app is updated regularly and issues that arise are quickly rectified.
The app has served me well and has provided all the help and definitions I’ve needed.
The subscription is not something I want to pay for every month but I will do this every other month!
    Download!

  • A handy tool

Very handy to have when you need to check your powers. I would recommend this app to anyone within the service. I’ve read a few of the negative reviews and am totally astonished at how tight my colleagues are. 99p it’s no big deal, most things are subscriptions these days and still works out cheaper than buying a hard copy each year from blackstones. Might stop you starting in a “dumb cop gets owned” you tube video.

  • Highly recommend

Bought this as I often need to have a means of quick reference to legalisation and it’s almost impossible to remember all of it! (Plus it came highly recommend by a lot of my colleagues ) It’s simple to use, quick, regularly updated and includes everything you need to know to go about your daily policing role. Yes there’s the PNLD if your sat at a computer but if your out and about it’s no use. Can’t recommend enough. Best few quid I’ve spent!

  • Fantastic App - Police Officer Review

This app is fantastic, and for 99p a month you can’t go far wrong. I use this every shift, if not more than a few times a day. I currently work within investigation and this is the perfect tool to stick on my desk whilst doing interview plans, looking for guidance, completing MG forms and even looking for CJS codes for building charges - this is just to name a few bits I use, but this app saves time looking through PNLD or flicking through Blackstones. What I like even more is that the creators have now got a Facebook page and they actively ask users to make suggestions for updates they’d like to see, and are always on hand to rectify any problems. I thoroughly promote use of this app to any Officers, Detectives, PCSO’s and Specials.

  • Superb

Fantastic app which is just getting better and better. Content has vastly increased and improved since subscriptions were brought in and seems to be updates most times I fire it up.
Must have app for anyone in the police, it’s a great little tool to look to when considering offences, looking up wordings/offence codes and even great as a little aid for those 4am statements on a nightshift when your brain no longer functions correctly. The checklists are great and would like to see this area expanded. Keep up the good work!
