Best Translation App in History

I love everything about this app and I have used it since I was 15 and just starting to learn French. It provides synonyms, whole sentence translations with proper grammar scriptures, and explanations and examples that so many translation apps fail to give. This isn’t something you should use to cheat on a paper or in class, but it is such a good learning tool to actually pick up many different words in the language! I still use it every day, it helped me though high school, college, my relationship w my French boyfriend when I was still rocky, and now helps me with Spanish as I pick up my third. Thank you so much for this app! My only complaint is that you don’t give enough characters to type for free, if the amount was larger, say, even 500 this would be the most used translation app on the App Store.

Inappropriate Behavior in Language Settings – Russian-to-English Translation Switching to Ukrainian

I am writing to address an issue I’ve encountered with your translation app. When I select Russian-to-English translation, the application often switches to Ukrainian instead. This unexpected behavior not only causes inconvenience but is also inappropriate, as it disregards my chosen language settings.

It is essential for language service applications to respect the user’s selected preferences. Changing the language without user consent is unprofessional and may give the impression of language bias, which is unacceptable in a modern, inclusive platform.

I trust you will take this matter seriously and implement a solution that respects users’ preferences without defaulting to unintended languages.

Good, but Voice Could be Better

I really, really like Reverso Context, namely because of its streamlined interface and ease-of-use. It’s truly unique and versatile. The only thing that needs a major overhaul is the voice and pronunciation feature. Please, please fix this to be better. It’s far too robotic, and lacks the natural native sound of indigenous speakers (i.e. Brazilian Portuguese).

It’s imperative to hear as closely to the sound of native speakers, especially when learning a new language. I find that I have to use Google Translate to get more of an authentic sound when I learn new words and using the conjugation feature of Reverso.

For instance, “great” (ótimo) is pronounced “o-chi-mo”, but Reverso makes it sound like “aw-tee-mu”.

Otherwise, this app is one of my main go-to Portuguese apps for BR verb conjugations and word usage. Please change the voices to sound more realistic and natural. I would trust and use this app more often.

Best translation and teaching app I have ever used.

I have been very disappointed with the “big boys” entries into this niche. But it turns out the Reverso can do everything I need in order to keep my Swedish fluency, well…fluent! Especially impressive is the ability to test yourself with new words. If Reverso can do this good of a job for a “minor” language, I can’t imagine how important it would be for those who want help with Spanish or French or Russian…

Fantastic Aid to Language Learning

I highly recommend this app. This was certainly a labour of love. I’ve used it for the Romance languages and Russian. It has a good dictionary with various plausible synonyms and also shows you the word used in many different relevant contexts.
It feels very navigable and natural. One of the best apps I’ve used for translations. You can insert a string of words and the app gives similar examples containing those words.
The language selection is limited but has the most spoken languages.

Response from developer

Thanks. Indeed, this app is crafted with a lot of dedication and love. Thanks for your support. Don't hesitate to spread the word.

I couldn’t live without it!

There’s nothing like seeing words in context.
I like the new feature that helps me improve my sentences.

In quiz only 10 words all the time when i have 1000 in vocabulary

I already twice had an effort with premium subscription and again almost to decline. but i love it. i can’t understand why tou can’t improve it, correct mistakes. What should be done till it will be perfect:
- an option to choose words in your quiz
- quiz should propose words for example 10 or 20 times but not 200 till it adds 1 more new word. it’s completely ridiculous and not comfortable, in 10 days you just understand that only 10 words go in the circle.
- level of memory is different- person should have an option to choose how many times does he need to show the word to be memorized.
I really-really wish that there will be some changes because it’s really a good app but if you are a serious learner it not for you. that’s sad

The best translation app. Hands down.

So the problem with many translators (especially google translate) is the fact that they typically will give you the “correct” translation but since language evolves and CONTEXT matters, this app tops any translation app by showing you hundreds of ways a word can be used. Honestly I could go on forever however I do have one piece of advice for the app developers regarding the voice play back feature.

Regarding pronunciation I believe it would be especially helpful to include the phonetic IPA spelling for vocabulary as such found in common dictionaries. This would help those familiar with the IPA language understand how to correctly pronounce the words in the text. Since sometimes it’s a bit difficult to replicate the pronunciation of the voice playback to someone trying to properly pronounce a new word. Other than that the app is amazing. Thanks for your work.

Great app but a few things to make solid for a renewal

-improve the quality of the voice speakers. Voices still sound robotic!!
-add sections such as phrasal verbs, idioms, etc
-add IPA next to the searched word
-English collocations

Thank you!

The adds seem to have increased significantly

I’ve used the free version for around a year now, it’s very helpful and a great app but recently on the free version the ads have really increased and it makes the app annoying to use. Most likely I’ll go back to a Spanish dictionary app
