Reviews of Email

  • Nearly Perfect

This app is seamless and intuitive to use. It is head and shoulders above Apple’s default Mail app. I also use yahoo’s app for some of it’s features (like being able to select a section of emails organised by date to delete one only one button instead of only have the “select all” option). But the Edison app is more streamlined and switching between folders and email addresses is easier. I’m having trouble finding out where to find each email’s total megabytes. Only complaint after months of use. // UPDATE: Thank you for the response. I don’t know any other 3rd party apps that provide this info. But it helps me prioritise which emails to delete. The only other thing I have trouble with in the app is accessing my drafts. Sometimes there’s no message body (either it won’t load or it displays a message saying there is no message body) and I panic and have to check the real email provider website to confirm that my draft didn’t get deleted. I haven’t lost anything yet, just time.

    Developer Response

Hi Lenny, happy to help! If you can send us some examples of the draft issues you're running into, we can troubleshoot. Please feel free to contact us here with more info: mailsupport@edison.tech (make sure to include “App Store review” in the subject line of your message.) 🙂
  • Recently switched over

The email app I was using before this started breaking down horribly and was rendered useless as I couldn't actually get to my inboxes. I decided to try out Edison instead and I wish I had switched over sooner! I love how customizable it is with appearance and functions, such as: allowing us to turn off the focused inbox, enabling/disabling avatar icons, allowing us to assign what icons we want on the menu, letting us change the function of the swipe feature (delete/archive/label as spam/etc), letting us block a sender or all senders under a certain domain address, changing between the basic light or dark mode (switching themes is free, edison is not a money grabbing app that makes you pay to have a black background), and more. I believe they also offer a paid subscription but their free version is so versatile and perfect on its own, I don't think the subscription is necessary in the slightest. As long as Edison stays the way it is, I'll never look for another email app. The one gripe I have so far is that when you long press an email notification on iOS and press delete, it'll remove the notification but it won't actually delete the email from your inbox. You have to go back into the app and delete it again. If that was fixed, I'd have no problems.

    Developer Response

Hi lotusflwr7 – thanks for sharing your review of Edison Mail, we’re happy to hear you’ve enjoyed it! Regarding your issues with notification actions just performing successfully, are you by any chance force-quitting/killing the Edison Mail app in the background? This will interfere with the app's ability to take action from notifications. If that's not the case, please contact us with more information and we can troubleshoot: mailsupport@edison.tech (make sure to include “App Store review” in the subject line of your message.) 🙂
  • I love this app but updates haven’t been good.

It’s an email app. It should just work and work great! Unfortunately, I’ve been plagued for 6 months now with terrible swipe gestures. An update did come out that helped fix the problem but the swipe gestures are nowhere close to that of Apple Mail and it gets really frustrating trying to delete 1 email and trying 3-5 times. Spam: I’m getting SO much spam into my inbox lately. Seemingly basic emails are not being caught now. No text, just a graphic and something about a bill I owe. Common, this should be simple to flag and used to get flagged to spam. I mark every one spam but they come through daily. Lastly, I’ve been having horrible luck with meeting / calendar invites. Edison Mail nicely provided the option to accept or decline, but 80% of the time nothing happens. Doesn’t show on my calendar and does alert the other party that I’ve accepted. This is a huge flaw and needs to be resolved. I have almost missed meetings because of it and have to open the Apple Mail app just to accept invites.

I’m going to have to consider switching if these issues aren’t fixed.

    Developer Response

Hi WKL5645, Happy to help clear up the confusion! For one, spam is 100% handled by your email provider, and the filtering occurs on their servers before reaching our app. This is the same for every third-party email app – we don't have our own spam filters. If you continue receiving spam, we'd recommend either marking the message as spam on your email provider's side, since we cannot train the spam filter, only move messages to spam. Additionally, you can block the sender (or entire domain) in our app, and future messages from that sender/domain will be automatically deleted. Just to re-iterate: marking a message as spam in Edison Mail (or *any* third-party email app) won't train the spam filter, it will just move those messages to the spam folder. Sorry you're having issues with those swipe actions and accepting calendar invites! Please contact our support team with more information and we'd be happy to troubleshoot: mailsupport@edison.tech (make sure to include “App Store review” in the subject line of your message.) 🙂
