  • Used everyday

Since I bought this I have used it everyday. The recipes are fantastic and really helpful. Being able to adapt the recipes are genius. One little update that would really help would be if you could use your apple watch with it too? 🙏🏻
  • Easy to use and flexible

Good range of recipes and it adjusts when you don’t have enough of an ingredient, which is brilliant. Absolutely love using the Drop scale and app.
  • Lost to me

I purchased this scale to weigh ingredients in the kitchen - not to become drop’s pawn by requiring an account to use the product I paid full price for. Not happening. (Using the EU’s new privacy laws as an excuse was plainly dishonest drop.) Lobbying Apple to remove this device from their store.
  • Broken scales with latest update

The hardware works really well, and the app used to work well and you could go straight in and start using the scales.

Lately, they have changed the app so you have to login, and you cannot go straight to the weighing screen.

This was just about acceptable but with the latest update, you can go through the process of connecting the scales and it says it has succeeded, but the scales don’t show up. The scales do show up if you select a specific recipe.

This is really annoying, I don’t want to lose my scales just because the phone has updated.

Edited- broken scales have now been fixed but it would still be good to be able to open the app on the weighing screen.

  • Major bug with prior app update fixed

It’s back to working well. Kind of annoying you can’t just land on the scale like before, but at least it’s working as it should again.
  • Never buy their scale. Or anything else.

I bought a scale. To use as a scale. They discontinued the app I used to use the scale and force you to use a different app with unwanted features. To weigh something it takes a good twenty seconds to actually click through to get to the scale and actually have it connect. Now they are forcing you to create an account and give them your email. To use a scale. I need to create an account and give them my email to use my scale.

  • Brilliant

Love this. Comes up with great recipes. Automatically adapts to correct measurements if you haven’t got exactly what the recipe suggests. So much improvement in recent years. I got this when they first came out. Lots of healthy recipes added. I love it.
  • Okay to use

    Okay to use
  • App login required to use scale

I purchased this scale, which is very good 4-stars, when all that was needed was the provided app to do everything a scale does.

NOW that it is required to have a login and get spammed with email to weigh anything it makes it 1-star. This makes it a DON’T buy the scale. Buy a cheaper digital readout scale than this product.

    Have a fine day cooking.

    Developer Response

Hey Douglas, I'm sorry you feel this way. I understand that if you only use the app and the scale for basic weighing, it’s not easy to see the benefits of having an account — it’s, honestly, not much more than a kitchen scale then. A large majority of Drop Recipes users interact with the app more than this, however. Some use our recipes, some publish their own, some create recipe collections, some provision and control one of the more than 100 appliances that connect to the app, some share cooking tips with other users, some adapt recipes to match their dietary needs, and some use a localized version of the app. We believe that by requiring an account, we will be able to deliver an improved experience for most — but apparently, and sadly, not all — users. When it comes to connected hardware, Drop has been quite unique by never forcing users to sign in — you won’t have much success using Sonos speakers, Nest thermostats, or Fitbit fitness trackers without an account. Hope this helps explain the thinking behind it! PS. To unsubscribe from recipe emails, which you don't seem interested in, just hit the link that says "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any email.
  • Account to use scale feature?

Most recent update moved back to a requires account to use scale, after a few months where this was not the case. Signed up, but not happy about it. This is a bloated model to use for software. Looking to weigh things? Get a regular kitchen scale.
