  • Hard to Navigate as Parent

I am a parent using Seesaw for my daughter in Pre-K. Her teacher uses it for communication and photo sharing. I have notifications set-up and yet under the notifications tab in the app there is one thing; an old phot post from her teacher that was sent to everyone. I get notification alerts, but have to guess which section to look in. The only way I know what kind of info I am looking for, for sure is by looking at my email becuase or gives me a preview. I tried to look under help topics on the Seesaw website to see if I am doing something wrong, but I can only find trouble shooting info for Seesaw web-based, not the app. The only app info I find is how to how to download it. I like that I can get photos and can easily contact her teacher if needed. That’s pretty much all I like.

  • Bad UI

I can’t reach the bottom icons for comments. It is hindered by the bottom bar for home, journals, notification. How can you not see this if you actually test this. This is an issue with the bottom most journal entry. I have an iPhone 15.
  • Some updates have made the perfect app to less than perfect

I love seesaw. I have been using it almost 4 years now. But some of it’s recent updates I don’t approve of ‘sadly’ because I still believe it’s a great accompaniment to schooling.
When assigning activities, the option to lock the size/resizing fonts has been discontinued. My kids are ever mistakenly changing the fonts when moving it into place.
Also, when writing with their fingers on the screen using their tablets, the writing isn’t true to what was written, the lines in each letter would be broken tremendously, sometimes the letter would be unrecognizable.
But thank you for giving us seesaw, it has helped us greatly.

  • Good app overall but requires a bug fix

When you watch a video and it gets to the end, and try to play it a second time and put into landscape mode (by turning the iPhone), it does not correctly go into landscape mode. Video does not go to full screen mode on rotation, and the full screen button won’t work either. In fact the video gets smaller, with white borders around the video. This has been an issue for a long time. Please correct this issue. Thanks.

  • Average app

Seesaw is a basic app, not especially easy to use. Needs more functionality built in - remove previous years, archive journals, clear log ins. It is okay but a long way from great.
  • Frustrating

This app has had a flurry of updates lately and all that seems to have happened is the logo and colours have been changed. What a waste of time! How about fixing the fundamental usage issues that all the other reviews mention? Personally the one thing I’d like to see improved is the viewing of my child’s work. Have you tested the app on a phone? I have to zoom in to be able to read anything (if the image is high enough resolution) and then pan round to see it all like looking through a tiny hole while the rest of the screen is empty. Turning my phone to landscape actually makes the issue even worse somehow by embedding the tiny viewing hole into an unnecessary box.

  • Seesaw

This app is horrible, it would let my friends and me post our work for no reason. Don’t get this for your class or for you children. It deletes things with out your permission do not recommend
  • Messages

I think this app is useful, but I also think it could be much better. The messaging system isn’t fast. What I mean is, to see a message you click on it, but then to hide that message, (as you can’t delete)! You have to click of it then hold down which doesn’t always work first time , it may actually go back to the message. Eventually you can hide the message. The message you’ve just looked at isn’t highlighted, so you have to go top to bottom, or bottom to top, as you will loose track easily, as all the messages start pretty much with the same thing. Four times who the message is from and two times that it’s an announcement. Rarely what the message is actually about. It is time consuming. It may be just a school set up thing, but whatever it is, it’s confusing and things are easily missed.

  • Ok but a few things

So this app was a really good one but the update is a bit confusing for me and my child here’s why. 1- looking through stuff can be difficult as the old one is more easier .2- uploads quicker , I would probably be more easier to use if it took less time to load . 3- while looking through messages can be time consuming as when I try to message my daughters teacher I have to scroll down a long way to find their account.
    Thanks for reading :)

  • Poorly coded with a terrible UI

Like most projects this one probably started with good intentions that have gotten lost along the way.

My child’s work is frequently disbanded by the app.

Uploading files on recent or devices that have a relatively new release appears to frustrate the software possibly due to the files larger sizes as the camera inevitably captures higher resolutions - specific to video.

My child has a restricted access to their device, owing to not wishing to fetter an unlocked iPad to a child. This results in files successfully uploading from the ‘admin’ level user more often than the child’s account. The contradiction being that you take steps as a parent to safeguard your child by electing an account with parental control only for the app written for the child not to lend itself to the functionality of which it’s audience’s require.

Put simply, could do better. SeeSaw should see the teacher at the end of the lesson.
