  • If you want to get faster

I started out as a 45 year old wanting to loose some weight and get in shape. Training outside was inconsistent and often dangerous so I bought a trainer. A friend recommended TrainerRoad and I love the product. With three sensors from Wahoo (Speed, cadence and heart rate) and a usb dongle I was able to set up an old laptop in the garage. My first Functional Threshold Test (FTP) I measured around 213 wats. Two years later I am down from 200 lbs to 172 and my FTP increased to 285. The training plans help slowly ramp up the training stress and have rest built in which keeps me from over training. I love this product and will continue to use it and take on big goals like the Hincapie Gran Fondo I just completed in Greenville SC USA.

  • Virtually brilliant coach

Okay having trained with a physical coach and virtually I can say that TrainerRoad is brilliant for those of us that have the will power to commit to a structured online training regime. However, if you need someone to kick you along the way, then this program may not be for you. I have seen my fitness improve and a regular increase in FTP through consistent training and mixing it up on the trails with my MTB. Very impressed with the prescribed workouts and the degree of flexibility and the ability to specialise also. Great program!

  • Awesome

An effective training tool that maximises results and progress without wasting time. Value for money.
  • Awesome app and awesome podcast

I started cycling and training properly in August 2018 with an FTP of 190. It’s now April 2019 and I have an FTP if 274. I am using TrainerRoad as my full time coach because I truly believe in the science behind this app. If you want to be a faster cyclist, but a power meter and use this app!
  • Perfect if you like structure

Perfect training solution and software if you like structure. The key benefit of TR is their library of plans and workouts, but increasingly their app is also getting very, very good. The calendar works great, the ability to choose variations of workouts (shorter, longer, harder, easier) is genius! Could do with better way to integrate video media but other than than that, it’s great.

UPDATE: Workout variants is getting better and better - used when not feeling so good or have less time!

  • Great Training App

The workouts are excellent— after the ramp test to assess your initial condition, the training plans have been really good at finding that balance of feeling like /really/ hard work, but still giving you enough margin to be ready for the next one. The workout themselves are varied, and the optional training suggested (cadence drills, form on the bike, aero positioning and breathing) really help to mentally break up the workout and leave you feeling surprised how quickly it seemed to pass. Also just as a recommendation — I started by listening to their podcast, it’s fun, crazily well produced, and packed with info on training and racing, after a few episodes of that I tried the app and the only downside is that I should have signed up a year earlier!

  • 1 Year In

I have been using TrainerRoad for over a year now and feel like it offers good returns on my training. I like to follow a plan and check things off so I feel like I’m accomplishing a goal and I can do that with TrainerRoad. Their workout calendar allows me to see my weekly TSS score so I can keep up with it even when I do shop rides. The calendar also allows me to move my workouts around if I miss a day or know that I will be missing a future day. I live in a rural area and actually do many of my rides outside and just memorize the workout before I ride. My FTP has risen some but more than that I am able sustain hard efforts for much longer periods of time. The higher threshold really shows on large group rides and races. FYI I’m a cat 1 MTB racer.

    Also regardless

  • Experienced rider looking to improve winter training

So instead of spin classes and a training programme designed by a personal trainer to improve my mountain biking and endurance road riding, I decided to buy a smart trainer and use an app.

After a few reads and recommendations from other experienced turbo users, I reckoned this would suit my interest i.e. Well focused, we'll planned training with emphasis on the form and ironing out bad habits.

    Good bits:
    Easy to set up
Sensible training programmes (not all high intensity and max power intervals).
Easy to follow on Erg and non Erg trainers

    Bad bits:
No audible warning when text (training tips) come up on screen, so sometimes you miss bits unless you like cycling head down watching your phone.
Doesn't adapt to what you're actually doing I.e. No comments if you're over our under power/cadence.
Doesn't seem to adapt to your improvement, so you'll have to redo your FTP to keep it up to date.

  • The best training app

Have used all training apps reasonably extensively over the last four years but find TR the best. Latest updates including the calendar feature are brilliant.
Training plans are like having your own coach and take the guess work out of what you should do for your workout today.
The podcast by TR is also a must have, huge resource of training info on there

  • Exceptional Results

I’m a 54 year male in the UK who’s been cycling for 5 years. I have been using Trainer Road for over a year and cannot believe how much faster I’ve got. However, the area of cycling where I’ve seen my cycling really improve is climbing hills. Before using Trainer Road by legs would start burning within moments and I would always get dropped when on a group ride.
By using the programme my body has adapted so well that I no longer get dropped on the hills and instead, I’m dropping others that I’m riding with. Top marks.
