Didn’t Work and Difficult to Use

Immediately after downloading the app there were problems, the map was blank with no streets shown as I zoomed in. There were no prompts or help from the app with it’s difficult to navigate UI and unexplained options. Furthermore, there is no satellite view either, at least not that I could find - perhaps I should have searched for the documentation online and scrutinised it for hours to find this. This is just really bad. They expect the user to do hours of research to figure out how to use a basic maps app. Every other maps application just works straight away.

Hello! Thank you for your feedback. Did you have any maps downloaded? The app prompts you to download a map for your current location at startup. After that, each time you try to view details for another area, it will suggest downloading additional maps. You can enable the satellite view as an overlay layer by going to Menu > Configure Map > Overlay. You can contact us at support@osmand.net.

Crashes when trying to navigate

So i have used this before and it was ace, but i have been messing with this now and getting fed up. When i try to navigate it keeps crashing and exiting the app. This is very frustrating and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but mo luck. I hope it gets sorted soon…

Really Appreciate it but…

look i get it we all wanna find an alternative to google, but you can’t make it this hard. the settings and functionality of this app are just unnecessarily convoluted. wanna change something on the display? good luck, there’s like 7 different places it could be, and even then you'll somehow only change what you wanted for a different mode you didn’t know existed. the learning curve is just too high. make it simple and lots more people will use this. we need a private mapping alternative

The app is rather powerful, but has ENORMOUS amount of bugs and poor UX.

Ima be walking an 11 hr “trip” to another place & ofc I’ll have no Wi-Fi so I asked ChatGPT and it told me this app!!!! Rlly nice UI and navigation & pathfinding algorithms work well offline… if a map doesn’t download try clearing a few gb of space even if u think u have enough (it needs room bc the data is claustrophobic)… & u can set ur own important points like “my house” and “(another place im goin to)” rlly nicely & it still pathfinds for FOOT between them (not js car)!!! Get this app bc it works even better then online maps work when they have Wi-Fi, & u don’t even need Wi-Fi to use it

CarPlay needs some work

This is a good all rounder. The ability to create profiles and add vehicle dimensions sets it apart from some of the competition and is useful for motorhome owners.
It would be good to be able to customise the screen in CarPlay more, the competitors have the edge in this area. Live traffic doesn’t seem to exist / display on the map. Switching between this and TomTom whilst driving really highlighted this.
For me, CarPlay is how I use my sat nav apps so unless improvements are made in this area and Live Traffic I won’t be renewing my subscription.

Love it and hate it

Great customisation but rather clunky to use, with obscure menus and upgrade pricing.
Route tracking is only available after you have installed a “plugin”.
In NZ you might have to use a VPN set to another country or map downloads can be painfully slow.

Device memory crusher

I wanted to find an alternative to Google maps. Loaded this app. App required I download maps. I initially only downloaded my state; but I travel all of North America regularly, so I downloaded North America. I noticed while learning the app that my device memory was dramatically decreasing as it worked in the background. Immediately deleted the app. My device memory is still significantly reduced & I can’t find where it stored the files to delete them & free up my storage again.

Not for the USA?

I really loved the idea of having downloaded maps on my phone for motorcycle travel but I have yet to find a single address within the US that this program will find. I type in the exact, specific, legal address and it doesn't even come close. Most of the time it's not even in the same state.

So, when i just click on a destination and try to get routred there, the app simply shuts down, 100% of the time. It has never worked for me. iPhone 15 Pro. Although it's only $10, I hope they issue me a refund as the aap serves no purpose for me now.

To help us investigate both issues, could you please provide address example and log file for the day when the crash wash happened, you can find log file in iOS Settings → Analytics → Analytics Data → search for OsmAnd, you will find files with an *.IPS extension. You can contact us at support@osmand.net.

Buttons not working on 14Pro

Trying to use this app and some of the touch elements are non-responsive. For example, the Cancel button doesn’t even work, but I can use different UI elements. So it’s either a buggy build or the all is dodgy. Surely not.
