Constantly crashes and slow load time. Almost unusable at this point
Listening to a podcast and want to check a text message? Player FM will crash or freeze. Enjoying a podcast and want to check the weather or Google something? Player FM will crash or freeze. And when it crashes, how long does it take to load and start over? A whopping 30 seconds. In fact, player FM will often stop a podcast or freeze for 15 seconds or more when you aren’t even doing anything else. This is extremely disappointing because years ago this podcast app was amazing and was my absolute favorite. I used to love this app and recommend it to all of my friends. But now the app has so many bugs that it is almost unusable. Extremely frustrating! I wish they would fix this, or just revert to a stable version from four years ago and let us download that on the App Store. Whatever it takes. I really don’t know how it could go from such a fantastic and wonderful app to something that’s broken. I wish I hadn’t had automatic app updates configured on my phone, because years ago the app used to work great! But I can’t find a way to go back to the old versionShow lessPowerUserPro
Terrible customer support
I like the app overall. I switched when Stitcher was discontinued and particularly like the ability to group my podcasts into playlists. I even upgraded to a premium account. But the technical and customer support is abysmal. I opened a ticket for a quirky bug that impacts my ability to enjoy the app. No response. I email again. No response. Again. Then I’m told - oh the app developers are working on it. Then nothing. Silence for a month. I ping them again. No response. Months go by. This is not a big bug fix. It’s a minor thing but its super annoying as an app user. When they finally decide to reply I’m told they are “looking into it”. Poor customer service, lousy response time on easy fixes that impact the customer experience. I’m looking at other apps now.Show lessTr In sf
Best podcast app, easiest to use
I have an iPhone and one of my biggest complaints was their podcast app had two options for sort, newest or oldest and sometimes playing even those was cumbersome
PlayerFM can sort by those and also shortest, longest and random and they stick! Playlists are also really easy to create and edit as well. Plus there seems to be more cryptid and horror podcasts which I love
And did I mention you can set it so it’ll skip awkward silences and pauses and reduce background noises like pages turning and throat clearing? And the speed has more options for the monotone ones with awesome stories so they don’t put you to sleep
I recommend it to everyone who is looking for podcast recommendations in my horror and paranormal communities
The one thing I wish was for CarPlay integration, it doesn’t show up on my car screen and I’m limited to using my phone to skip a podcast or find one which is cool unless I’m driving and our state is hands free or a ticketShow lesssamlau0916
This is THE BEST podcast ap out there!
This has the most useful features of any podcast app by far and it is very reliable! You should go to settings to configure it just the way you want it. Can stream pods OR download. The interface is better than any others once you get used to it. The only confusing thing is that you need to press the buttons at the bottom twice to flip the view. Sometimes it pops up a list of new episodes instead of showing the tile view of all of your different podcast subscriptions. Wish I could turn this feature off because it is very annoying. You have to click the button a second time to make the page flip. Also “share podcast” feature doesn’t work. Another REALLY ANNOYING thing is the “ Listen to the latest” pop-up screen, that you have to click skip to use the app. I hate that!!! Everything in these reviews mentioned that is good is very true. This is an excellent app for organizing, auto downloading and playing Podcasts.I’ve been using this podcast player for five years now and would’ve given it a five star review.
The auto downloading function in particular is very powerful. Most other podcast apps that I have seen really don’t allow for total control of auto downloads, they just seem to download the newest episode or so.
This app allows for a down loading of as many or as few episodes you want. You can do it newest first, or oldest unplayed first, which is great for older shows you want to listen to chronologically.
However, about a half year ago, I noticed that it started to drag my iPhone and my iPad‘s battery down at a very high rate. I have tried ripping it out and reinstalling the app several times and nothing helps. None of my settings have been changed, for instance, I never allow downloading on my cellular service because I don’t want to pay for it and that has been a constant setting the whole time.
The people at the helpdesk via email seem very nice but all they really come up with is to reinstall the app which is not effective.
So, unfortunately, I started to use this app for my older chronological episodes only and I use another app, which is not really as good, for current episode type shows.
I really hope that they fix this battery drain problem.I would come back full-time for sureShow lesscg in MD
Used to love it
I’ve been using this app for ages, but I find that it sounds wise on my new iPhone, which is really weird. I also listen at night a lot and I find it annoying that you can no longer see the sleep timer for the end of the episode, now you have to set for a multiple of 5 or 15 minutes. It shouldn’t matter to me as much, but it does. So I find myself using other apps more often. Please change the sleep timer back!!!Show lessJujube 28
Bluetooth issue seems to have been resolved
I can’t find my previous review about podcasts restarting every time I got in and out of my truck. The issue seems to have been resolved and I love this app once again! Thank you!Disgusted3

Had to try several times before OPML worked, still didn’t add several podcasts and can’t find them through search. Tried adding them through the podcasts RSS feed still not able to add or find several podcasts. Also can’t add playlists it seems like a decent app but in its current state unusable for meShow lessjlcollins310

I use podcasts to catch and review news primarily.
PlayerFM makes it straightforward to find, download, manage, and playback programs, including playback speed. I appreciate it showing a running total of the space used and fully customizable length of retention.
These all seem fundamental, but I can’t find them easily in the Apple or Google offerings.Show lessdan89limo
Apple Watch Support is Subpar
Good app and gets access to otherwise banned podcasters. However the Apple Watch app doesn’t have skip forward and back functionality.Mr Wedgie
