  • Terrible cumbersome app and support

The app is a chore to use. The only interaction with the Mobile 2 is the camera and their store page. The problem is that I’m looking for a firmware update but there’s nothing to indicate if there’s a new one or not. The gimbal already has issues connecting with my phone so I don’t rely on apps to “let me know”. No thanks I’d rather have an option to check for an update or at least show that my firmware is up to date when I check it. Of course to check the firmware version I have to actually be in camera mode where the gimbal is moving while I try to manipulate the mess on the screen. There’s no option to stop the gimbal without turning it off which if it’s off, it’s not connected and the app doesn’t give any options in that case. Also what’s up with a separate app for the models. Why is there a version for one half of your catalog and a different one for the other half? Put it all in one app and allow customers to use the newer app cause we all know you aren’t doing anything with this one anymore. It says there’s updates but it’s largely the same mess it was when I first got it.

  • If it works leave it alone.

If your drone is working fine you don’t need to update the software and firmware. The update firmware includes updated fly zones or no-fly zones. If you update your software and firmware you run a high risk of not being able to fly your drone in the new zone updates. Your drone was very expensiveTo purchase. The firmware updates are difficult and I don’t recommend updating firmware too often. You can Corrupt your firmware update easily. If it works fine leave it alone. Done

  • Awful app

Not only does this app crash constantly but now they went and added a watermark to the videos you make in the app. I didn't think it could get worse but it did. I have a hard time thinking that other gimbal companies can have apps as bad or worse than dji. I could deal with the crashing to not write a review but the watermark crossed the line on being acceptable in dealing with this crap.

Edit: after writing this I went back in to see if I create my own video in it if it would water mark that as well and sure enough it does. Talk about complete crap.

  • To anyone having Bluetooth issues

The software is a pain … but I got it working after some fiddling. Here are the steps I recommend to get rid of the Bluetooth issue -

    1. Be sure you only have one device you’re trying to connect. If you connected an older phone and then try to pair with a new phone and the unit senses the older phone is on, it will not pair.

    2. Reset your password - the app only seems to work if you’re logged in. If you need to reset your password, the email will be in Chinese. Use Google translate and it’s basically two steps involving entering your email on the website (click the email link to get there) and then enter the new password twice on the next screen. You should see a green circle and arrow on the website if it takes.

    3. Finally, I recommend fully deleting the app on your phone and then reinstalling. Go through the set up and give the app access to your camera, gps and blue tooth. Use the new login password and approve all the prompts. If you start fresh, the blue tooth error should be gone and you should see a list of devices on the app which you can then connect to.

My issue, like many of you, is that I didn’t use the app for like 6 months and when I tried to open it, the Bluetooth error kept coming up. Refresh the app, reauthorize the app permissions on your phone and you should be back in business. Good luck … not a great app.

  • Broken software team

I’m sure they pulled the brightest minds behind Internet Explorer to build this flaming hot mess of an app, which I admit might be an unfair review of all the app’s potential, except I can’t even get it to work with my Osmo, which USED to work until the dev in their infinite wisdom decided to break what was working. My Bluetooth sees it. My iOS even sees my Osmo as paired. But the App refuses to believe my Bluetooth is turned on and literally won’t let me do anything except retrigger the prompt to make sure my Bluetooth is on. I am quite literally never ever purchasing a DJI anything again. As others have mentioned, they attempt to lock you into their crap ecosystem and then deliver absolutely horrendous user experiences. Never again.

  • Unusable

Keeping original below, but after tears of use I have to update. The software is no longer usable with Osmo mobile with iPhone 12 from what I can tell. I’ve submitted a support request, but this has gone from useless to worthless. Don’t buy DJI.

Original: I'm revising this review because I learned where the photos/videos are located. Select 'Connect with device' (Yes, for some reason this accesses the camera roll when not connected) > 'Camera' > library icon (camera roll). This loads the camera and the camera roll is in the standard location when using the gimbal.

I'm using this app with the osmo mobile. For controlling a few specialized shots, it is great. If you can get the same shot some other way, DO IT! I cannot suggest using it to for primary capturing of video and images. If you are running low on space you will have to remove other data from your phone to be able to export and access your content in other apps, which gets very challenging for long shots. My biggest complaint is that my battery last less than half as long as the native iPhone camera app with no apparent benefit for general recording.

Like I said, it has some neat things you can do with beautification, motion time lapse, long exposure, and of course is necessary for calibration of the gimbal. I will use it for that, but never again as the main video capture application. It is just too inefficient and a small liability for the videos and pictures recorded with it.

  • Unable to use my expensive drone due to this horrible app

So at first I was able to use my drone, although it was a huge and unnecessary hassle to bypass everything they require you to do, but after roughly 4 flights, it requires me to take a quiz although I already understand what I need to know about drones and have the necessary skillset. Every time I open this app and connect to my drone, it goes straight to asking me to take the quiz, and I click continue then it just says “error not found” then I can’t click out of it after it says that and I have to exit the app, repeating the same cycle. I try disconnecting from my drone and connecting to a regular WiFi and other solutions that should be effective, yet none of them work and I’m just stuck not being able to use my drone because of this stupid design.

  • Sends You Somewhere Else

I don’t do too many reviews, just because it’s not really needed, but this one..... This is blatant and ridiculous from DJI. It’s obvious they want you into another newer unit, as anything other than a upper unit is now a brick with the DJI GO app. I downloaded the Litchi app for $23, and guess what, it works. DJI go app continues to send you to the “quiz” and after that, white screen of death. I LOVED the DJI GO app for several years, but now, it’s just literally garbage, like unusable. How can DJI do this? It’s business... they have more units using the newer apps and they “made” the DJI GO app ground the older units, moving some to new equipment ... look at all the forums and it’s obvious. Too bad they don’t have a phone number ...

  • Bluetooth Connection needs better options

When I use this app with my iPhone 11 Pro the gimbal will connect easily but when I switch to my older iPhone 6 to save storage space there is no connectivity unless I turn off Bluetooth to the iPhone 11 Pro.. The app seems to be selecting the newer phone as a primary device instead of letting the me (the user)determine which phone to use with the gimbal it would be nice if toggling the Bluetooth was not the only way to switch phones. I use my iPhone 6 to save storage space on my 11 Pro and to have creative vintage visuals from the older iPhone camera system.

  • Problem submission and ease of use.

Tried to submit a bug report from the app. I filled everything out that pertained to me and my product as best as I could. Tried to select submit, and nothing. It seemed that it wouldn’t allow me to submit because I didn’t fill out all “fields”. Here’s the problem, some of the fields deal with flight issues. I don’t have a flying device. I use my product only with my phone, not drone work.

How can I get help if I can’t let you know I have an issue. I also can’t find a phone number to call.
