“Great App, but Could Use Some Extra Features - Alexa makes life easier”

“Good App, But Needs Bug Fixes, More Features, and Improved Functionality”

I’ve been using the Alexa app for quite some time now, and while it offers great convenience for controlling smart devices, managing reminders, and playing music, it still falls short in a few key areas. On the positive side, the app performs well for basic tasks, but there’s a real need for more advanced features and functionality to enhance the overall user experience. For instance, having more customization options for routines and better integration with third-party apps would be incredibly helpful. Additionally, I’ve noticed that the app tends to crash unexpectedly, especially when managing multiple devices or trying to set up new features. These frequent crashes are frustrating and should be a priority for fixing. The voice recognition is another area that needs attention—it can be inconsistent at times, which makes it less reliable than I’d expect from an app of this caliber. Lastly, the app’s interface could use some refinement to make it more intuitive and user-friendly, particularly when navigating between various menus and settings. Overall, the Alexa app is functional, but it definitely needs bug fixes, more robust features, and a smoother user experience to truly shine. I hope future updates address these issues for a more seamless experience.

Lists Functionality could be improved

I like to use the list’s functionality to organise my shopping. Really handy to be able to add things on the go via my Alexa during the week. Unfortunately as I do some shopping online and some in person it’s gotten rather clunky. During the week it’s easy to ask Alexa to add X Y Z to my shopping list - but as I am going to get some on line it would be handy to be able to then swipe the item and transfer to another list (I have one for Tesco as it’s my local shop and one for Ocado for online). As I can’t do this I then have to manually delete each item and then add again to the appropriate list. Also if I tell Alexa to add something to Tesco she quite often just adds it to my main
shopping list instead.

Confusing, weak, unresponsive

We have 6 echo devices (the worst decision I have ever made) the app constantly loosing connections with the devices! God knows how many times I had factory reset the whole environment and reconfigured my network.
Oh and the worst! The parental control website os usless. I set up a kid's device to "go to sleep" at 2020 and it is still happily playing music at 2100 like the won't synchronise.

Enjoying the process

Whoops!

I was really enjoying using Alexa on my iPhone – until yesterday, when the latest update hit. The app no longer runs. You hit the microphone button and it appears to be listening, but just goes beep and repeats this time and time again. I am greatly disappointed by this, as I have been playing an absorbing game every day. You are going to wreck my stats! please fix it so that it runs on iOS 18 properly.

Music stops after 5 seconds

With Amazon or Apple music it stops after 5 seconds. When I ask for Jazz Radio, it works fine. All accounts are set up properly as skills.

Sometimes not what it seems!

80% of the time I very much enjoy listening to Alexa Echo. However every so often the program I’m streaming suddenly stops and loud random music starts playing from another streaming service. I then have to pause my Echo and reconnect the streaming service I had been listening to previously.
What might cause this happening on a regular basis and how can I stop it from occurring.

Keeps getting worse

Since the latest update the app now freezes whenever I try to do anything with it. It's very frustrating and even the simplest of tasks, like setting an alarm, now take far too long to complete, if I manage to complete them at all, before I get sidelined after the >5th attempt.

I think that you should be able to control/activate scenes from within the app, by pressing the relevant scene, rather than having to use a voice command. I suppose this is probably a way of trying to push people into buying Echo devices, but I've got at least one in every room and I still want this function.

Also, the ability to activate a routine from within a different routine would make my life a lot easier. Since IFTTT functionality has been disabled (why(??), please re-enable it) I'm having to use Voice Monkey doorbells alongside iOS shortcuts and it is getting messy.

Works some of the time

To be honest when I first bought these devices, I have three. It worked perfectly fine. That was a couple of years ago now I am having trouble deleting Reminders if I don’t actually want them. it has the wrong name on my account and I am unable to change it. It has now started playing music through all of the devices instead of just the one that I wanted on. I’m basically she doesn’t listen to what you are asking her or telling her she do I am saving up to buy an apple, because I think they would be more reliable no I would not recommend buying these at all save your money I was told to sort the problem out to uninstall the app and then reinstall it again which I did it deleted every reminder I have on there. I have got a problem with my short term memory so I don’t remember things now all the reminders are gone. I have no clue. I have been onto customer service. Who promised me faithfully that was in 24 hours after I kicked up a bit of a fuss? It was supposed to be 3 to 5 days but they did promise like I said 24 hours I would get an email with all the reminders back on it that was three days ago.
