Before you spend time adding additional features, u need to make sure the basic features exist for the software u have developed. In this case, the ability to know where you left off in a video lecture. It is crucial. Coursera does a great job of highlighting where u are in the course although their last update was bizarre UX wise. Edx has a much nicer design but is missing some basics which mean people end up using the desktop version. I dont know about everyone else but Im not going to download the videos, so while the latest update is great for those that are, it would be great if the next feature to focus on is letting users know (via bookmark) where they are in the course. Also "last accessed" is not the same thing and should be an additional feature. I would also like to be able to hide or remove archived classes from my course list using some kind of filtering. But def not as important as basic bookmarking.

50% of the time it works every time!
Great concept for learning on the move let down by the fact that itβs unreliable and continually refreshes pages of text. I mean, why did the developers add refresh to a page of text after youβve opened it and the data has already downloaded to your device? Itβs also fun trying to remember which section you last accessed. Perhaps they should introduce an exam mid course to test you on this. I suggest the App developers sign up for the EdX βApp Developer UIβ course ASAP

Website is better in some cases except...
I love EDX, I think is great source of knowledge, with that said the app does need some improving, here are my suggestions.
1. The ability to bookmark your page is a must! If you use safari or chrome on the iPad EDX will allow you to bookmark your page and come back later to where you left off, the app takes you back to the beginning of a module.
2. Another must have is the ability to upload files, which again you are allowed to do if using a browser it not if using the app.
One advantage I did notice of the app over a browser is that you can download the videos for later viewing offline so that is something you canβt do with a browser.
For now I will be using a browser and only the app to download the videos if I know Iβll be somewhere offline. I think I like the browser experience better, till they add the must have features, ability to bookmark and the ability to upload files. If you think youβre going to be offline for a while and want to keep advancing than the app,is a no brainer.

Website is a Better Experience
I tried using the app, but overall it is a worse experience compared to the website. The interface is so sparse and missing so many visuals or features that I can get on the website. But I do like the ability to download video lessons and would at least have tried using the app if it werenβt for...
It wonβt properly track my course progress! I just completed several lessons and when I came back to the app and checked on the website, it showed I hadnβt moved at all. But when I went back and went through the same lessons on the website, my current position and progress were updated correctly. So appears to be a bug with the app? This is a showstopper obviously - I canβt use the app if it wonβt keep track of where I am in the course. So for now, back to the website until this is fixed...

Good
I like the app, it allows me to download course videos at off pick time and watch it at day time. I'm giving four stars just because it has glitches, for example if I pause video and often it wouldn't play again, I have to restart app, or sometimes it doesn't show downloaded videos and if you restart app, it does. The rest is fine, probably would like more if it offered an opportunity to watch downloaded videos fully offline, at present it wouldn't start at all if there is no connection, but it's my individual request, because my iPad is an old one, has no SIM card and I have Internet plan with strict off pick and on pick time periods. Anyhow, the app serves me well, four stars just because of the need to restart it almost every time and it's a bit annoying. The rest is good, including almost all full version features as assignments, quick questions, video only tab is also very helpful.

Worst experience with any mooc apps
Slow, sluggish, unresponsive, crash-prone, nothing more needs to say about this poorly made app. Hard to believe this is supposed to be something that conveys the best education
Barely functional
Only works in low-res iPhone 1 mode. Forget about iPad.
Only shows videos.
The point of downloading this was to get past the poor online UX. But sadly technology is a long way in the past.
