  • Ads overkill

The ads are REALLY annoying. I have no problem paying for a premium app, however, I would like to know what I’m getting first. It’s hard to tell whether or not I’ll like it because I can’t get past the ads. I get that you make money off them, but when you get an ad every time you push something in the app it’s a bit too much.

*** To the developers response: I won’t pay for a premium app that I don’t know whether or not I’m going to like it. The free version is virtually unusable with all the ads. Too much frustration. I’ll stick with Runkeeper & pay them for walking plans. And because you don’t care what potential users are saying, I had to downgrade you to 1 star. Your robotic response to what people are saying is really annoying. Just don’t answer at all. No one wants to pay for an app they can’t try out.

So I downloaded this app and then I began to read the reviews. I’m deleting it before I even open it, and not solely because of the customer reviews but more because of the developers response to these reviews. Obviously you need to have ads in order to keep the app free but it’s clearly overwhelming to EVERYONE according to the feedback they’ve given. What’s the point of downloading the app if the ads pop up so much that you can’t even use it?? The developers just want to push that premium cost but what they fail to realize is that if people had a better experience with the free version you wouldn’t need to ignore their concerns and redirect them to lining your pockets.

Also for the record there are many apps on the App Store that also use ads to keep the free version going at no cost but at least it’s a limited amount so you can use the app peacefully.

  • Springboard for Spring

I am 61, retired and in the tropics for 6 weeks. I decided to attempt in this time to lose weight and enhance cardiovascular fitness. I saw some people I know on the ads from social media so I thought I would give it a try. I went ahead and paid the premium. I have used it 6 days and find it helpful. I wish I could see the workouts in advance. So far, I have only listened to the Motown music and thought the selection good. I appreciate the tempo automatically increases when I am instructed to “walk briskly”. Being away from home, I don’t have access to a scale so I don’t know how much weight I will lose. I will reevaluate the app at that time.

  • Developer You Are NOT listening

I was considering downloading the app to try it but after reading the reviews and especially the developers responses that is never going to happen.

** Developer your not listening to the consumers. The same people you want to buy your app. You continue giving the same crapping responses no matter what people are telling you about the app as if you are just copying and pasting the response. Yes we get the ads will go away with the premium service however what you seem to fail to understand for some reason is if the consumer can’t use the free app without frustration they will NEVER buy into the premium service. We as consumers, your market, will buy an app if we find some type of value in it. Please don’t respond with what those are because we can read it in the app. We have to enjoy the free version enough FIRST before we buy into a paid version. Yes we understand you have ads to keep it free, we as consumers already know that. It’s how they are placed & how often. The fact that you are not really listening to any of the things people are saying and that I’m spelling it out for you suggests that either you have no idea how to run a business or you just don’t care. Either one is bad on your part.

  • Ads

While you can use the free version, it makes it really hard when ads take up half the screen constantly. You can’t close the ads. I don’t mind a pop up now and then, but these are constant. I’m going to try the free version for a while and see if I like it, or if the ads drive me nuts. I don’t think I will upgrade, just because the constant ads, and how big they are, have soured me on the app. But, we’ll see what happens after I try the free version for a few weeks. Also, the app makes you think you have to sign up for a paying option right from the start, which you don’t. You can close out of that and use the free version w/o paying...but then you have the huge constant ads that you can’t ever close.

  • Great app; too many ads.

The app alone is great. I would totally recommend it. It's simple and easy to use.......ONCE you get past the ads. I don't mind ads. I get that that's how you make the money for providing an app for free. But good lord...you have to wait for an ad to load, close it, wait for another ad to load, the close it. Now you're at the app - you press start, all is well...but wait, you have to close another ad. Then they have this great list of resources to read to help you out.....but can only see like 3 sentences at a time because of this huge ad that you can't close out of. It really makes you not want to read the stuff (which I haven't)! I understand that you have a premium service. That's great and once I've been able to use the app, if I really enjoy it, I'll consider the premium service. However, dealing with these in-your-face ads that make using the app difficult just make me want to delete it. So if you can just deal with the ads...great app! But the ads do kinda make it annoying. There are other walking apps that have just small banner ads at the top or bottom which don't interfere with the app itself.

  • Ok, but not very flexible?

Chose beginner and wanted to walk for 1 hour. App dictated that beginner was 15 minutes, so did that 3x. It now shows I walked 3 days in a row and stats/map are not all together 🙄

    Developer Response

Dear User! The app generates a training program based on your personal parameters and the workout intervals increase as you proceed with the plan. Do not hesitate to contact us via in-app support or support@redrockapps.com and we will be happy to explain you how to make your walking more intensive. Thank you for your time.
  • Was looking to try this out

For my neighborhood fitness group (15-25 people) But then I read the reviews of the constant assault of pop-ups making it unusable. I understand why they try to upsell but it sounds like you aren’t given the chance to even try what the app does.

As annoying as those ads may be, I thought the developer responses to user concerns were even more annoying - basically, we are not going to listen or take you review or concerns into consideration because we want you to spend $ to buy premium.

I’m not even a user and these reviews/responses tell me user concerns don’t matter. I’ll save myself and my group the pop-up, upsell drama and save valuable phone space for a company that listens to its users and isn’t out to just make a buck at all costs.

  • Fantastic

This is fantastic app, it has crashed a couple of times...and it would be great if the voice could be heard over my own music once the screen locks, will save me having to look at my phone every time it vibrates...also knowing what’s coming up like 5 minute warm up, 20 mins standard pace etc would be a great advantage....I’m using the free version and for those who say the app asks for payment details...click later at the top right...you have ads but they are bearable....fantastic job, not ready to purchase subscription yet I don’t like subscribing to software....I would definitely pay if it was a decent one off cost....fantastic job anyway team...I do love it!!
