Well worth it!
Great program!! I've been working on completing the 199 essential lessons for over a year, but I'm now able to hear and explain differences in sounds I couldn't have when I started. The challenges are exhausting, but I'm in love with learning from this app. thanks!OGKayuker
Wonderful
I’ve spent time messing around with softsynths and never felt like I really got anywhere. This app is well organized and straight-forward, exactly what I needed. One small suggestion would be the additional of more problems in the quizzes or a separate “drills” function to assess randomly-generated patches. I’ve found that trying to recreate the patches solely by ear to be the most helpful part of this app by far.

Totally worth it. The absolute best intro to sound design there is, and so much fun. This system really is perfect. My only recommendation: I hope the creators continue to add new tutorials, even as a paid upgrade...I just want to master everything to do with synthesizers. Also, an interactive tutorial on mixing and effects plug-ins (e.g. compression, reverb, saturation, etc.) in this format would be beyond incredible...I’d pay a pretty penny for that!Show lessBreakbeatman1234589
Brilliant....
I got the synth bug almost a year ago, since then I’ve read books and watched countless videos and while they taught me what this and that does it never got fully across the how and why! This is hands on, Joe explains each section clearly in an easy to understand way, then sets you challenges that you have to complete that get progressively harder as you progress, then encourages you to try the same techniques on any synth you may already own. On top of Syntorial there are extras that guide you through particular synths like massive, serum and Moogs voyager and a few others. Another great feature is you can download it to your iPad and carry on away from your daw and carry on where you left off on your computer later. Great for the dinner break at work. It may be expensive, but it’s worth every penny. I just hope in the future there’s an add on for the Moog subsequent 37 wink wink, cough cough 😂Show lessLenrod27
Very intuitive
I’m an experienced sound designer with a degree in Music Synthesis from Berklee College of Music. I purchased Syntorial to get some ideas on teaching synthesis in my own music school. I have to say this an extremely well thought out course with a quality subtractive synth plugin to work with. I wish we had something like this back in the when I was in school. A few lessons in and it’s already helping
Through this course it’s helping to understand both theoretically AND audibly each parameter in synthesis. My patches have already improved in quality from before where it would be just random parameters haphazardly adjusted.

This is very useful for ear training when it comes to synthesis. I like that it includes lesson packs and videos for other popular synths like Massive, making it easier to apply the knowledge and experience gained when using this app.Dika M

Very well presented, taking you through the process in tiny, easy to bite off steps. Well explained. Makes you think at a level of detail that you wouldn’t otherwise. Gives you the ability to redo the sections you feel you need to work on more. A fun and satisfying method of learning.KnowNotAll
Upgrade price is insane
I was really loving the synth tutorials. I am learning alongside my 12 year EDM fan and we were really digging the lessons and learning a bunch. Then we got to the end of the free lessons and WHAM!!!! $129 to continue!!! As much as we love your lessons and teaching style, there is just no way we could justify spending so much to continue. So sorry because we absolutely loved this. Maybe you should offer price tiers. One price for the basic lessons, another for the lesson packs for Serum and Massive (which we don’t need), and another for PC/Mac access and the plugin. I’m a software product manager with years of experience and offering all or nothing bundles is a sure way to lose customers. Wish you had some lower price points to continue with more lessons.Show lesscspaggy
