Could Be Better

Good for learning the basics and starting to play songs you probably know.

Likes to lag randomly during songs on an iPhone 12, which throws everything off by about half a beat.

Virtually unusable without headphones if you care about scores / consistency.

Doesn’t show hand position for chords in all modes. Just shows finger position. This teaches bad habits over time.

Can’t get promotional prices while subscribed, so yearly subscription customers don’t get to take advantage of promotional pricing (why won’t you guys implement pro rated subscription purchases?).

Credit Card details required for free trial 😠

There is so much fraud that I don’t want to give out my credit card details before being able to do a proper trial of anything and getting a sense of whether it is legitimate and something I like, because it can be so difficult to stop automatic payments being taken. Apparently you used to be able to use this app for up to half an hour a day without needing to provide credit card details, but I couldn’t figure out how to do it or it must have changed fairly recently so I couldn’t access anything useful to see if it was for me which is a shame. I’ll be starting with Justin guitar instead because that has a really good free trial without having to provide upfront credit card details for.

Yousician Premium Plus : Yearly Plan $149.00 + GST

I wouldn’t give this app the time of day because I couldn’t find a way to cancel my subscription for $149.00 for an app I have no use for. Also I didn’t want to give one star because I didn’t try it out. Don’t try this app.

It’s incredible!

I’m still amazed! Apparently according to the app I’ve been playing on it for less than 3 hours since I opened it but it’s taught me everything from how to tune my guitar and hold it but I’ve just finished learning to play my 12th song already! I was not expecting much when I downloaded it but I am actually playing a guitar because of it! I’m only using 3 strings so far but that is way more than I expected and it’s been less than 3 hours so! I’m just hoping that I can keep going at this pace and be capable of lead the rest. This app actually makes it seem realistically possible that I can achieve my dreams of singing while playing an instrument… I am hoping to get a keyboard and try the piano version very soon! I’m on a mission and this app is pretty much making it possible to achieve 🤟😁🤌 Yay! I’m obviously a complete beginner but I’m sure it could be useful to more experienced musicians too

I’m really enjoying this app

Honestly, if I continue to get this level of enjoyment then I really don’t mind the subscription fee. I have dabbled in the past but this is giving me some structure and it’s fun to play along with songs I know. Feedback wise, I keep seeing a message flash up on the screen. The print is too small for me to read without picking up phone, as I’m holding guitar this takes a second or two, by which time message is gone. It’s happened a lot and I can’t make it out. I wonder if it is why the phone misses some notes I am playing ( correctly, because it’s open string and 3x same note but only two get picked up) which is frustrating. It’s not too significant unless you are in performance mode and your correct playing not recognised. I’d love to know if there is somewhere better for my phone so it can capture the notes better. But overall I definitely recommend this app, it is excellent

Life changing

I’ve been using the app for a couple of years since absolute beginner on bass and singing. It has been a wonderful therapy. I have grown to love playing music so much last month I quit my boring day job and I begin music college in a few weeks aged 49. Thanks Yousicians!

Not ACTUALLY free

You used to get a free allotted time slot each 24 hours for a smooth learning experience. Now, you get a free 10 min or slightly more session in which you can progress as far as you’d like but after that to progress ANY further you HAVE to buy the subscription. Which is just pointless. It’s a free app sure. But the services are heavily priced at a ridiculous mark up. Trash app, use Justin guitars online for an actual FREE learning experience. This isn’t the app it once was. Greed infects all those who touch it. Or so it seems.

Buy it you won’t be disappointed

First thing is thanks to the app developers for making an old man happy. I played regularly in my teens and was self taught from books when I was kid so this puts things on a whole other level. Easy to follow steps and and original songs that are not there for you to impress your mates they are exercises to help you gain memory of the fret board. Don’t worry if you don’t like the songs being taught just see it as an exercise for your hand memory. I quickly moved through levels 1,2,3 and 4 as I had basic knowledge but picked up so much from doing the entry level stuff first. I bought the premium version and paid £50 for Black Friday deal so that is just 2 half hour lessons with a tutor! Definitely worth the money. Easy to use and an array of songs to learn. My only gripe would be if it had backing tracks. That would make it better so you could play the parts your learning to your favourite bands. The added bonus of the Metallica stuff is what made me get it. I would highly recommend

Interesting app, horrible for experienced guitarist

The app concept is great don’t get me wrong, but the fact I have to go through all the basic training of “how to change frets” or “how to play strings” as an experienced guitarist is super frustrating. Not to mention the app doesn’t even pick up notes played most of the time so it’s either you “miss” them or play the note multiple times so that it actually registers
