I’m not ur personal bank

So i loved this app before I found out I had to pay a subscription to keep learning AND pick my own songs to play. First of all, I’m a child, not a bank. Second of all, it’s unfair that I have to pay to learn to sing. I wanted to learn how to sing my fav songs from Hamilton, Imagine Dragons, Shawn Mendes, etc. But I can’t because I not only have to pay you guys, it doesn’t even have some of the best songs on earth! Some suggestions? Add Hamilton (musical) and Enemy (imagine dragons, jid). And what I said before, abt me being a kid? I’m in 5th grade and u expect me to have credit card info? I don’t even have a phone number!! On top of that, I have in app purchases disabled. I might delete this app and find a better, free version where I don’t have to pay to have fun learning to sing. I think you either prefer adults or have a greedy guts for money. And if it’s money you want, just do ads to unlock the next lesson or unlock new songs. Not to mention, my singing voice sounds EXACTLY THE SAME AS IT DID BEFORE THIS APP. This was a flop, and I only gave 3 stars because it was an actually good app before it asked for my dads money. Oh, PLEASE, like he knows I even USE this app. And if you do add ads, don’t make them like OBNOXIOUS and every 5 DUCKING SECONDS. You can’t expect anything to change after 4 missions. This app deserves 2 stars rather than 3. You’re lucky I’m nice. 🤬👿😠😤😖😡

Hi, we understand the concerns raised and appreciate you bringing them up. We'll be sure to keep your review in mind.

I’ve loved this app easy and help me

This app is great for new players who are trying to get into playing guitar but I’ve been having a problem with this app when it wants me to tune my guitar it’s saying I’m hitting the wrong string even though I’m not so either update this app to fix it or do something else it’s really annoying

I love this app

I’ve tried teaching myself and I’ve tried taking lessons in person but I always found that I would get burned out on the material I had to practice or the instructor would be moving too fast. I’ve had the app for 3 days and I’ve already played for 12hrs lol (I have a broken foot and don’t have anything else to do). I can honestly say I’ve never enjoyed learning this much. There is plenty of songs to practice and you’re moving at your own pace with instant feedback, which is unparalleled. I will say the chords feedback is pretty forgiving, I will muck it up pretty bad and still pull off a “perfect”. I’ve been wanting to learn how to play the guitar for years but have given up many times, with this app I have no doubt that I can become at competent at least. The price is steep but if you look around at private lessons and compare, it’s a steal (shhh don’t tell the developers). If the developers are reading, thanks for giving me the opportunity to finally learn how to play an instrument.

It’s okay.

I got this app because my father got me a guitar about 4 years ago and for some odd reason I didn’t play it. My father passed away in 2020 due to multiple reasons and I told myself that I was going to learn guitar no matter what. I started playing with this app and overall it was really nice! Though I was a bit sad because of the free trial, you see I don’t have a lot of money and to be completely honest my mother wouldn’t want to spend money on a guitar app. So sadly I can’t play anymore? I’m confused. Do you have to pay money to get more lessons? There’s many questions I have. Of course I don’t dislike the app and I find it great for learning, but it’s a bit difficult when the app asks for a free trial to continue. Don’t get me wrong this is a great learning app but also a little tip is maybe to make it so it hears the guitar more :). Though I love the app it’s personally a bit difficult. Maybe add ads Instead of a free trial but then again I know you have to make money. That makes sense. I just wish that you can continue without the free trial. Feel free to respond to me, I would love to learn guitar :), Thanks!

Big issues

Firstly, unless you’ve not played Guitar Hero and tried to learn real guitar instead - you’ll struggle! The exercises are very frustrating for a beginner. It doesn’t show you in advance what the exercises involve and just throws you in the deep end - while you’re still trying to remember which numbers refer to what frets and string numbers. There is no training in trying to develop muscle memory. You stare at the screen and the music goes so fast you feel like you’re making no progress with your playing. There is practice mode of course, but that’s secondary to actually doing the exercise in the menu itself. I’m now half way through the learning material and still haven’t come across any exercises for string picking. So I’m constantly getting the wrong string in an attempt to get the right fret. The app layout is nice though and it’s fun and colourful. But so far it’s not the best place to learn without getting really agitated and possibly put off guitar forever as simple things are made to seem difficult when you play the exercises.

It’s a good app, but there are a few issues.

I can never find an app where I can learn my guitar at home without premium trying to fit me to buy things. This is no exception yes, it allows you to learn but only for about 3 lessons then you have locks on it saying you have to buy premium to learn. I get it, you want people to pay you but as a 13 year old, I don’t have the money to and I’m not going to ask my parents for a subscription, I find it unfair that it seems that you either pay to learn, or you don’t learn. It’s also unfair that there are hardly any songs you can play without having to pay. This is a good app though, better than the ones I’ve previously used, I’m not here to slag you off. Overall, I have progressed phenomenally since I first played and it’s great how you walk us through everything and keep the videos short and snappy. I just think that premium should be optional not a two way choice. :)

Hear me out

The only reason I put it as full stars is because hopefully this’ll get seen by other people. I was trying at the for 2 years and I couldn’t pass the beginner stage. I was playing the correct chords strumming and fretting the way they taught me but each time I would play it in a song the microphone wouldn’t pick up what I’m playing.

You would think it’s the device I’m using? Wrong I used simply guitar and it taught me way better and gave me actual feedback to what I’m playing, Unlike Yousician which will say each time I get a chord wrong or don’t play it correctly it’ll simply say: “Play the Chord” .

Overall this app only has old country songs and no new songs that have been released since 2020.

GREAT APP FOR LEARNING BASS, but…

This is a GREAT app for learning bass guitar. I absolutely love it. The instructors are great (I also took some guitar and piano in the app; a true plus is you can learn other instruments for the same price), and the opportunity to play with music tracks of various styles is awesome. With the bass, it’s particularly important to hear music behind you and to play along. I’ve literally had hours of enjoyment. For sheer joy of playing, I can’t recommend this app more.

However, I did struggle to play outside the app. There’s no information about how bass players play along with or adapt chord charts; no info about scales or improvising with them (which is what bass players commonly do); no info or training at all on reading standard tab and applying it to a song. So while I LOVE playing with the app and the way it teaches instruments, I wish it would cover this other important info.

I’d also love way more jazz tracks and less metal, in a perfect world. But you won’t regret the money you spend. I’ve never learned an instrument so fast in my life.

Tuner not recognizing

I just started with this app. In the tuner thingy, it can’t recognize my string. It says that my string 4 is my string 5. I don’t know what to do as this is my first day with guitar. Please help me 🙏

Disappointed in Direction

I downloaded this app a few years back to learn ukulele and I loved it! There were all sorts of songs available to learn, and although lesson times were limited with the free version, it wasn’t too bad. They eventually made popular songs part of the paid version, which I didn’t mind too much because I could still learn the basics.

I recently redownloaded the app to get back into the swing of playing, but I don’t think I had an account before, so I made a new one and I’m incredibly disappointed to see that now anything beyond level 1 appears to be locked. I understand this is a buissness decision but it’s incredibly frustrating to know an app I loved and was able to use for free with only certain aspects locked has decided to make the whole app basically unusable without paying. I can’t even do challenges anymore!

I’m still rating three stars because from what I remember the app is a great learning tool, but I can’t help but be dissapointed in the direction the creators have chosen to take this app in.
